This is my opinion on the album, what's everyone else's?
My taste in music has vastly changed since Meteora was released, so this first listen was interesting. This album is Pop Rock with a Linkin Park twist IMO. They did change their style, in some postive ways and some negative ways. What got to me was that they went ballad crazy, more than I ever thought they would do on an album. That hurt the album for me personally, its the softest Linkin Park has sounded (I was expecting more raw, harder songs). Also, the lack of Joe Hahn to me was disappointing, more DJ/Electronic would've benefited the album. But other than that...I liked how melodic they have gotten with their sound. What really stood out to me was Mike's rapping, anytime he rapped on this album, it was one of my favorite parts of the album. Fort Minor really helped him in his lyrics and his flow. My favorite track off the album so far is 'In Pieces', this to me was one of those 'Breaking the Habit' type songs where they show how creative they can get.

I wouldn't give my hopes up for another nu-metal album in the future.. but even if they do go back to their previous sound (which I doubt), it wouldn't work for them anymore... They sound good, and of course is strange becuase we are not used to it.. but I really like it.
This record is something personal. We are not talking about the same guys we started listening to 8 years ago... They have changed, grown and now they just have learned how to express their feelings with different music...
We all know that some point form now on, these guys can get into real rock, and I mean harder... but yeah...
MTM is amazing for now... ^_^

It's vastly different but it's much more mature, and that reflects how many of the Linkin Park fans are now as well... we've all grown up in these 5 years or so.
I agree it is much more mature. The people on the torrent sites are all flaming the album, but I am like, they have matured and they are experimenting with ways to express their feelings now. Nu-metal is not dead, it is just being done in a different way :P

'Leave Out All the Rest' is the best song on the album..Im so dissapointed with 'The Little Things Give You Away' I was so bored listening to it, There is a couple more standout tracks, 'Given up' is a great song along with 'Shadow of The Day'..all in all its a good summer album i think.
'Bleed It Out' showcases the power of Mike's rapping skills perfectly..but at the same time i think that's one of the weakest songs on the album
I'd give the album 7/10 because when it gets going its pretty epic..but there are some times where it slows down for me..and it sounds lazy in places.

Wake: It's an intro. Nothing special. 2/5
Given Up: I really like the bridge but I'm not a big fan of the punky sound of the song. 3/5
Leave Out All the Rest: Sounds a bit like the emo songs my little sister listens but without annoying vocals and with better instrumentation. 3/5
Bleed it Out: Mike's raps sound different than on the former albums. I like that. The song is a bit repetitive, though. 3.5/5
Shadow of the Day: Another slow song. Boring. 2/5
What I've Done: Only song on the record where we can hear they have a DJ. I don't think this is the worst song on the record as I heard many people say. 3.5/5
Hands Held High: MIIIIIKE!!! Really like the end of the song but the chorus is a bit boring. 3.5/5
No More Sorrow: Pure awesomeness! 4/5
Valentine's Day: Slow again. Sounds like this could be a single but I don't like it. 1/5
In Between: I didn't knew Mike could sing that well. 3/5
In Pieces: The music sounds a bit like a ska or a regae song. I don't really know what to think about this. I have mixed feelings about this song. 2.5/5
The Little Things Give You Away: Chester singing high notes. That's new. I also never imagined LP writing a long and slow song that doesn't sound too long. I wonder if Rob will play all the drums on this song live or let Joe sample it. Best song on the album. 5/5
_________
Was it necessary to totally get rid of the nu-metal sound, LP? I can imagine why there isn't that much rap on the album. Mike has a lot of other things to do. But why is Mr. Hahn almost completely gone on this record?
This reminds me of the song 'Step Up':
"And a DJ in the group just for credibility"
My wishlist for the next album:
- More electronica
- More rap
- Less ballads
Maybe a co-production with Trent Reznor and Saul Williams?

I'm listening to all of them in full length right now. OMFG "In Pieces" is easily the best song on the album for me, It's so euphoric. I love some of the tracks like In Pieces, No More Sorrow, Hands Held High, What I've Done, some of the tracks are ok like Bleed it Out and Given Up, but I'd have to say Leave out all the rest, it sounds emo and this is the only song I'm not a fan of right now...
But "In Pieces"! Holy shit!!!
leave out all the rest is the best song for me and here are the lyrics..correct me if im wrong:
I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
'Cause no one else cares
After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving?
When I'm done here
So if you're asking me I want you to know
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Don't be afraid
I've taken my bail
I've shed when I'm near
I'm struggling to surface
Not all the way through
I've never been perfect
But neither have you
So if you're asking me I want you to know
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Forgetting all the hurt inside
You've learned to have so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me
From myself
I can't be who you are
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Forgetting all the hurt inside
You've learned to have so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me
From myself
I can't be who you are
I can't be who you are

Now my comment on the album..
Its a masterpiece! Now let me explain..
Im a big LP fan.. and always was..
LP is the first rock/nu-metal band I began to like.. and I loved em.. HT was so original, when u hear it..u say THATS LP!
LP helped me to get into the rock/metal scene.. I began to listen from Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Dream Theatre, Dimmu Borgir, Tankard, In Flames, Megadeath, RHCP, Disturbed to Incubus, Audioslave, Placebo, Nirvana and so many other bands.. no matter if they were Death/Black/nu-metal or punk or soft rock or alternative rock.. Im an alrounder now.. I have grown like LP did.. and MTM includes all types of songs.. from rock balades like shadow of the day, valentines day to rock/alternative songs like leave out all the rest to heavy songs like no more sorrow (sounds like metallicas - Am I evil?)or very have tracks like Given up (my second favorite)..
Little thigs give you away is just great.. the solo is beautifull like on some other songs.. Rob has grown and learnt much.. his riffs are sounding much better on MTM.. Mike sings good.. and Chester always had a great voice..on MTM its even better! MTM lyrics are great and there is no bad song..
so stop blaming LP.. and grow up.. its a great album.. 4.5/5

I love it. Its a really beautiful album. I just wish they had balanced it out a bit more by say adding 3 more heavier tracks to it. I like the pop songs on the album but its full of them. I like pop and i like rock, but i like rock more.

Well my honest opinion on the album is its a pile of shit. i'm gutted my favourite band of all time have come to this. leave out all the rest sounds like a boyband song, sit on a stool with the mic for the verse then stand up for the chorus for all the girls to scream. i think the lyrics are amazing, a bit depressing but great none the less. i just dont see why they have come to such a weak end (im guessing this will be the end to linkin park) the real linkin park is dead.
At least now i get the lyrics to what i've done 'cross out what i've become' yes they really should.
I was expecting the album to be more like given up, im sure i'll grow to love it but im just really dissapointed. i've waited so long, got so excited, to realise my favourite band have turned into just another emo band. :(

Exactly. That was even evident in those 30sec preview clips. I don't mind that hovewer, I like what LP has turned into, and yet they managed to retain a part of the old sound IMO.
And the composition of the album is another thing I like; hard song, soft song, hard song, soft song... and a few soft song songs at the end of the album. Although I wouldn't mind hearing a couple more heavier songs, but that's just me:lol:

My review:
-Wake-
I really like it. It's a great way to start the album. I like how it gets louder as it goes along, and it gets even better when the drums come into play. 4/5
-Given Up-
Nice punk-rock style song. The bass guitar really shows, and I enjoy rocking my head back and forth to it over and over. 4/5
-Leave Out All The Rest-
Amazing. It gets better and better every time I listen to it. I love the lyrics, and the way chester sings. 5/5
-Bleed It Out-
It may be short and a little repetitive, but it's another song that gets me pumped up. 3.5/5
-Shadow of the Day-
You can definitely hear the U2 influence in the song, but it's definitely nice. 4/5
-What I've Done-
I've liked this song since I first heard it. It has that creepy piano intro with the nice guitar sound during the chorus. 3.5/5
-Hands Held High-
One of Mike's best raps to date. The marching band drums are a nice addition to the song, along with the choir in the background. 5/5
-No More Sorrow-
Great political song, with an eerie guitar sound at the beginning, and cool drums to make it even better than it already is. My favorite song on Minutes To Midnight. 5/5
-Valentine's Day-
Another awesome song. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. Some good lyrics from Chester. 4/5
-In Between-
I had to listen to this a few times before I started to like it. Sure, Mike's singing is far from the greatest, but I think he gets his points across. 3/5
-In Pieces-
I really didn't like it at first, but it grew on me, especially with the wicked guitar solo from Brad near the end. 3.5/5
-The Little Things Give You Away-
A very nice way to end the album. Another great guitar solo from Brad. I like the ending the most, where Mike and Chester overlap each other. It just sounds so perfect. 5/5
-Overall-
I was afraid of listening to this album, not because it leaked, but because I knew there was going to be a BIG change in their sound. Not many bands can pull off such a drastic change, but somehow, LP have managed to do so, while sounding great. 4.5/5 for the entire album.

Bingo, I was not expecting this emo boy band sound from Linkin Park. I like the way you think Cyanide, we're on the same page.
And I realize that they have all matured, but the slow songs sound like they are aimed for little girls to wet themselves. Like Cyanade said, I'll grow to like it, but it was disappointing.

Hybrid Theory: 5/5
Meteora: 4/5
Minutes To Midnight: 3/5
There's NO Mr. Hahn... there needs to be significantly more Dj Tech.
Alot of soft singing, only a few songs capture the rage that made LP who they are in the first place.
Too mellow. LP was quick, sharp rhymes with blaring loud guitars and a melodic chorus.
Still good music, still a good band, but they lost all their flavor, they are bland now. A couple softer songs balance a harder record, but I think overall, they are moving in the wrong direction. Like the album though... :)

I was scared to hear this album. Now I'm not. I think that it was amazing...not just to suck up. The lyrics have evolved (for the most part...*cough*given up*cough*) and they sound older. Everybody was f'd up when Nine Inch Nails put out the Downward Spiral, but look at them, still an amazing band. MTM just about accomplishes blurring the line between the old and new LP. My favorite songs on the album are "No More Sorrow," then "Hands Held High." While they were all good, those made me feel the best out of them all. On the flipside though, I am slightly disappointed at the lack of Mike rapping and Joe doing his thing. There could have also been some more heavy tracks...QWERTY would have worked wonders...but at the end of the day, I give the album an 8.5/10. Very good, but lacking a tiny bit.

This is my current rating of all the songs on a scale of 1 to 10
01. In Pieces.....15!!!! Because I can relate to what it's about I guess.
02. Shadow of the Day....................10.0, another perfect song
03. What I've Done..........................9.5 We already know it's good
04. Given Up....................................8.5 Just all around bad ass rock track
05. The Little Things Give you Away.....8.5 Lp's first country song...lol I love it none the less
06. Hands Held High..........................8.5 I like it because it's different and cool
07. Wake..........................................8.0 Awesome kick start to the album
08. Bleed it Out.................................7.0 This song is ok, but not great
09. Leave out all the rest....................1.5 This song sucks and is emo, but that's alright. One bad song on the whole album....
Over all rating? Not sure, probably close to perfection...
The rest of the songs I'm unsure of as of right now because I need to listen to them a little closer. But those up there are the ones that struck my attention right away.

I didn't want to download it, but I gave in anyway. Here's what I thought:
-Wake // I thought it was decent for an intro/instrumental. Nothing really else to say there. 3/5
-Given Up // Total bad ass song. This will definitely become a new 'pit' song live. I love the screaming and the 'punk-ish' influence. I just wish the lyrics weren't so angst ridden. 4/5
-Leave Out All The Rest // My favorite song on the album. I can definitely see this becoming a single and I actually hope it does. I love the slowness and the range in Chester's voice makes the outcome sound so beautiful. I love the lyrics as well and I have no problems with this song at all. 5/5
-Bleed It Out // A total "what the fuck is this shit" type of song, lol. Definitely interesting. I love the beat but the lyrics are sort of crappy. Too repetitive as well. 1.5/5
-Shadow of the Day // This is probably my second favorite song at the moment. I find nothing wrong with it. Basically what I think of this song is how I feel about "Leave Out All The Rest". 5/5
-What I've Done // A good lead off single I suppose. The more I listen to this song, it seems like it shouldn't be on the album. It doesn't flow well with the other songs. The lyrics aren't the best but it's a good choice for the first single. The "so let mercy come" part always gets me. I just love that part. The song still needs to grow on me though. 3.5/5
-Hands Held High // Mike just owns in this one. This song reminds me of a little bit of "Kenji" or maybe even "Right Now" off of the Fort Minor cd. The lyrics are ace and proves Mike can still write lines that capture the listener's interest. The little gospel "Ahhhmennn" gives it a nice flare as well. I love it. 5/5
-No More Sorrow // "Hey miss murder can i, hey miss murder can i, make beauty stay if i take my liiiife". *ahem*....yeah. It sounds like AFI to me. I love AFI so I'm not complaining there. I love the guitar riffs in the beginning and the lyrics are pretty good as well. I felt the scream during the bridge could have been a little longer but I guess Chester makes up for it near the end. 4.5/5
-Valentine's Day // I absolutely love the lyrics but I found it rather hard to get into this song. It was just boring until the guitars kicked in and Chester started singing, "On a Valentine's Day" over and over again. That part I liked. It may take a while to get into this song. 3.5/5
-In Between // It's good to know Mike can sing well. No offense to him or anything, but I would like to see him stick to rapping, lol. This song does nothing for me. 1/5
-In Pieces // It's not the best, but I am feelin' the song. I love the reggae feel and the guitars/drumming sound fine to me. Pretty cool song to just "jam" to. 3.5/5
-The Little Things Give You Away // The most hyped song on the album. Did it succeed in the hype? I believe so. Everyone has their own opinions but it's nice to see Linkin Park do a song like this. I'm happy with the final product of this song and it's a great way to end the album. I'm actually kind of shocked on how good it actually is, lol. From the lyrics, Chester's beautiful voice, the guitar solo and the background vocals...they all came together nicely. 5/5
**Overall**
Album: 3/5, which is what Kerrang! gave it and I feel it's justified.
For the first time ever I will actually have to try to get used to a Linkin Park album, lol. It's not necessarily a bad thing either. They were dead on about the description of the album, that's for sure. I'm glad they experimented on trying things they've never done before. It's good to do that even if it doesn't satisfy the hardcore Linkin Park fan. So good job on their part for that. With that said, the biggest problem i have with the album is the lyrics. A lot of them come off still angst ridden. Even if they are trying something new that they haven't done before, the lyrics are the biggest fault for not letting a song be the best to its potential. It's a shame and I think that's where it hurts them in this album. Hopefully they'll realize that for whenever the next one comes out, which will probably be in another 4 years ().
The end for now.

So i gave in and listened to the leak... here's my review:
Wake: An intro, not much to say. 2/5
Given Up: Definatley the most angsty song on the album. Has a punk feel to it and Chester really shows off his screaming capability. I can't give it a whole 5 however. 4.5/5
Leave Out All The Rest: Very catchy. Very, very catchy. If this doesn't become a single I will be surprised. 4/5
Bleed It Out: A very odd song to me. I like the return of Mike's rap style, but is it just me or do the lyrics seem more nu-metal than their previous songs? Lyrics aside this is still a good track. 3.5/5
Shadow of the Day: Didn't do anything at all for me on the first listen but it has grown on me in a very short period of time. The U2 connection is pretty obvious. A good ballad but not as good as Leave Out All the Rest. 3.5/5
What I've Done: A good choice as a single, but I really wouldn't have complained if this song would have been dropped so that a heavier song could have been substituted. Other than the halloween-like intro this song isn't anything special IMO. 3/5
Hands Held High: Great song. Sounds very similar to Kenji. Great lyrics and the "ahmen" gives the song something extra. The highlight is towards the end when mike sings. 5/5
No More Sorrow: I love the intro in this song. I've seen a few people complain about the lyrics, but in all honesty i don't think their is anything wrong with them. Possibly the heaviest track LP has put out and I like the sound of it. 5/5
Valentine's Day: This song is going to take a while to grow on me. It reminds me of My December. To me there just isn't anything that stands out on this track. 2.5/5
In Between: To me it seems like most people aren't liking this song, But I am really into this song. Mike's voice is great on this track. To some it seems really boring, but to me the simplicity of this song is its strongest feature. 5/5
In Pieces: This, like Valentines day, still needs to grow on me. I like the music in it, but none of the singing has really caught my attention. 3/5
The Little Things Give You Away: Well the hype was worth it. This is an outstanding song. Chester is great and the song just builds and builds until Brad pulls out that guitar solo which comes at just the perfect time.
Overall: 4/5
Closing Comments:
Lacks the intensity of previous albums, but the transition to a softer sound has been excellent. The album is very experimental. The best thing about this album is that it has really opened a lot of doors for the direction they can go on the next album (I know it's early).

It's vastly different but it's much more mature, and that reflects how many of the Linkin Park fans are now as well... we've all grown up in these 5 years or so.
Yeah, mature....they put that damn adult-ish sound with a way too classic note...like they've taken it too far. Notice that MCR definitely went "classic" on The Black Parade, but they did it in such a beautiful way, whole "being" of their music and lyrics went forward-on MTM some of these elements are fallen behind, like some lyrics. I've never been a hardcore fan of MCR, but like an example I took them. I think I could also take The Used...
I really don't know what to think, I'm very confused. I'm on the edge of giving up something that I believed in so much. I've already been deeply disappointed, I still can't believe it.. It's so unbelievable, that I feel guilty for that. I feel sorry for using "big" words and maybe judging too early, but I'm insanely pissed off. I know I love this band...so much, but honestly, I've never believed a band could make me feel like this. I think I'll never stop hoping (and wishing)-it's just something nobody can kill. Nobody can kill what's too good... What's coming on my mind now: they wanted to make something insanely perfect and they messed up, I've been tied for them too much-now I'm too critic..seriously, am I that critic?? Oh dear... I so burned out...
This album is Pop Rock
I'll NEVER be able to admit this.

Wake : I'ts just a good intro .. but something is missing there . 5.5/10
Given Up : Very powerful ... its pure rock. I like it . 7.5/10
Leave Out All the Rest : I like it, It has nice melodies, but I was expecting a 'climaxˇ' during the song. It never came. 5.9/10
Bleed It Out : It's , the weirdest LP song. It has a lot of elements there, I lik the rap, and when chester's voice is more aggresive its very cool. Very good song . 6.5/10
Shadow Of the Day : Very nice song. Melodies are just beautiful. I liked it a lot . 7/10
What I've Done : We all know this song. It hasnt anything special, but its a good song. 6.5/11
Hands Held High : Fort Minor? .No .... I think this song could be better .... 5.5/10
No More Sorrow : Epic song. One of my favorites. From Intro to the end its just amazing. 9.5/10
Valentine's Day : I didnt like it too much ... it seems like something is missing on the song .. more melodie changes maybe .. I liked the final part. 5.5/10
In Between : Big dissapointment. This just was just the same boring thing all the time. Nothing special .. very bad song. I'm sure some of those 150 demos written were better than this song. 3.5/10
In Pieces : Amazing ! It impressed me. I wasnt expecting a song like this .... It has a very cool guitar rythm , and the solo sounds amazing ! One of the best songs. 8.5/10
The Little Things Give You Away : Get song. Very well done. Nice harmonies and arrangements. It's just a track to sit down,. think ... enjoy ... amazing. 9.5/10
The whol album was cool ... I know its too soft in some way, but there are some awesome songs there. I'm doing this review just with listening the album 3 times .. so .. it probably keep growing up on me
Minutes To Midnght = 8.5/10

I've been listening to this album on repeat since I got it last night and it has gotten better the more I have listened to it. But this album is still far from what I think Linkin Park is capable of, because I know they can do a lot better than this album.

The entire album lacks edge bar a couple of tracks.
Reminds me of the latest Lost Prophets effort in comparison to Start Something.

MTM proves this: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it".
To me this album sounds like a demo-tape of a young band: "listen to all these different styles that we can play: punk, ballads, synth-pop, hiphop... please give us a record deal!"
I feel confused and dissapointed. To me linkin park on their previous albums had this unique and full sound that felt like it had been worked and worked with 'till it was perfect. MTM feels like it has been left half-done. i don't like the raw and classical sound. Changing and experimenting isn't bad, i enjoyed collision course, FM and the remixes cos they all had a lp twist, but to me MTM doesn't feel like lp at all. it sounds too cheap.
i will give it a chance to grow on me though, and i'll need to listen it in full cd-quality but at the moment it doesn't feel worth buying.

Well unfortunately, LP listened to the fans who got tired of their 'signature sound.' I'm sure you've heard people talking about 'Hybrid Theory Part 2' aka 'Meteora.' And if LP were to put out an album in the vein of those two, critics and fans alike would be calling them a one trick pony.
After a few more listens through, my opinion has changed.
At first I was critical of Bleed It Out and In Between. Now I love basically all the tracks with the exception of Shadows of the Day and Valentine's Day.
oh no! im a very intricate listener and repeated beats/samples/anything annoys me pretty badly. are there any other instances like this?
Um, the beginning of In Pieces has a chord progression similar to the beginning of Into The Void?
Oh, and for clarification on my opinion of the record right now:
Ranking of Studio Albums by LP:
1. Hybrid Theory
2. Minutes To Midnight
3. Meteora

I'll have to tell you guys my opinion after I get it in the mail. I'm not going to download it now.
Okay, for me this album is just growing and growing on me.
I like everything except In Between and Hands Held High. The chorus to Hands Held High is so cheesy it's embarrassing to me. Also, until I put In Pieces in a religious context for myself, I didn't like the 'your lips say you love eyes say that you hate' crap. The lyrics on this album are the worst part.
Some of the lyrics are good. They're really really really good on some songs, but the majority of this album shows me an attempt to sound deep that fails. Not all of it is like that, though.
In Between was too monotone for me. It just.. wasn't that great. Sorry, Mike.
Bleed It Out was good, except I wish they would have done more with the chorus.
After it's all done, I really see what the reviewers were saying about this. It didn't have the "holy shit, this is awesome." for me. It didn't have me jumping up and down shouting how brilliant this new album is. It left me somewhat satisfied, and I keep getting more and more satisfied, but I'll probably never be able to give this album a 5/5, and, for me, Meteora and Hybrid Theory are near 5/5 albums.

Well, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the album. It isn't something I'll love or listen to for years to come, but I was so bored by Meteora that I am just glad they tried something new. Chester has an amazing voice and I'm glad he decided to use it. Though, I really do miss the presence of Joe.
The best songs are No More Sorrow and The Little Things you Give Away. I seriously dislike the two rap songs. Not a good flow at all, in my opinion.
Only one listen, but my initial score would be a 7/10. To put that in perspective, I'd give Hybrid Theory a 9/10 and Meteora a 5/10.

Mike should produce the next Linkin Park album by himself, this album seems like they were confused about their identity, like someone said above, they are trying to do many things. They need to implement Joe and Mike a lot more like they used to. They can have a rapper/singer/dj and not be Nu-Metal IMO. But who really knows, another LP album won't come out till probably 2013. lol

Im getting tired of hearing everyone talk about "maturity" half the people using that word are 12 year olds on here. Quit being sheep....baa baa!! You cannot honestly say that this is a beautiful display of art and talent cause its not. What this is, is Rick Ruben and Linkin Park attempting to change themselves into something that they arent. Im really pissed that they sold out like they have. The video for WID isnt that great compared to all the others Chester has turned into some Bono/Mr. Rock Star wanna be from the recent photos and video images. Mr Hahn might as well quit the band cause thier showing that thier not going to use him. Mike's rapping is blah at best on this album. If Linkin Park cares about thier fans, which im pretty sure they DO they will release another album very soon. If i wanted to listen to emo shit id just turn on mtv or fuse!! As for people saying they are trying to get away from Nu-Metal...who do you think helped create that genre? I like 1 song on this cd and thats it. So overall i would rate this a 1/10. Cmon LP put out something heavier and something that sounds more like you, not who your trying to be!!

Ironic you mention maturity. Look, a band doesn't just put out records for the fans. A band makes the music that they want to make. Clearly they don't want to sound heavy at this point in time. That means that this new mellow sound IS what sounds like Linkin Park now. It is one thing to not like an album, everyone is entitled to that. What you are NOT entitled to is accusing a band of not caring for their fans or themselves by putting out new music that they love and put themselves into.

that's true though i've never really understood the logic behind it. To me, Meteora sounded different and even better than HT, i felt it had a more emotional and deeper touch to it. Every good band has their own "signature sound", otherwise they would all sound the same. Now this is what IMO happened in MTM, like someone else said, they sound like any other band. :(

Word. In Pieces is My new favorite LP song.

My review:
-Wake-
I really like it.
THAT IS AN AMAZING REVIEW. I WANT TO FEEL THAT WHEN I LISTEN IN 9 days. ahh can;t wait!!

honestly i found a couple songs a little bit boring, my favorites would be bleed it out (it gets me hyped when i listen to it =p), hands held high, given up, in pieces and no more sorrow. The litttle things give you away was a bit of a dissapointment in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more. Hybrid Theory had a definitive sound with plenty of distinction between the tracks... but Meteora did well on shelves because it stayed true to Linkin Park's sound. Minutes to Midnight is a collection of "does this work for us?" tracks... some yes, some no. You'll notice that the songs the general fan base seems to love: Given Up, Bleed It Out, No More Sorrow
They are all significantly different than previous LP tracks, but they still stay somewhat loyal to LP's sound... Blaring Guitars and Screaming mixed perfectly with melodic singing...
The music isn't bad... not by a long shot. At the same time: I don't love every track like I did with previous LP cd's... Look at Disturbed: they are still around and their newest cd sounded similar to their first record... different but similar... alot of the tracks sound very similar... and I like them all.
The way to prove you are capable of making more then one genre of song is not proved by making a cd that sounds like pop tracks with rock tracks with punk tracks with emo tracks with hip-hop tracks... shuffled up.
Sorry about that rant. LP still rocks

This is a great little rant. There's no better person to believe than someone who's never set foot in a recording studio or has never been in a multi-platinum rock group. Being in a band is about finding your own identity. If bands wanted people like you to tell them what to do, they would hire you as a producer. Last time I checked, you weren't hired so you have no input.
Like people have said before, it's ok to dislike an album. Criticism like this is totally uncalled for. Bands like Linkin Park stay true to themselves. To me, selling out would have been making another Hybrid Theory or Meteroa. Instead, they've gone in a new direction despite what others thought should have been released.
And once and for all, people need to grow up with their emo comments. It's getting a bit ridiculous. Recently, it's odd to find a post without the emo label describing music. It's almost like this, "If I don't like it, it's emo."

leave out all the rest is the best song for me and here are the lyrics..correct me if im wrong:
I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
'Cause no one else cares
After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving?
When I'm done here
So if you're asking me I want you to know
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Don't be afraid
I've taken my bail
I've shed when I'm near
I'm struggling to surface
Not all the way through
I've never been perfect
But neither have you
So if you're asking me I want you to know
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Forgetting all the hurt inside
You've learned to have so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me
From myself
I can't be who you are
When my time comes
Forget the one that I've done
Help me leave behind some reasons to be missed
Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory
Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
Forgetting all the hurt inside
You've learned to have so well
Pretending someone else can come and save me
From myself
I can't be who you are
I can't be who you are

Now my comment on the album..
Its a masterpiece! Now let me explain..
Im a big LP fan.. and always was..
LP is the first rock/nu-metal band I began to like.. and I loved em.. HT was so original, when u hear it..u say THATS LP!
LP helped me to get into the rock/metal scene.. I began to listen from Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Dream Theatre, Dimmu Borgir, Tankard, In Flames, Megadeath, RHCP, Disturbed to Incubus, Audioslave, Placebo, Nirvana and so many other bands.. no matter if they were Death/Black/nu-metal or punk or soft rock or alternative rock.. Im an alrounder now.. I have grown like LP did.. and MTM includes all types of songs.. from rock balades like shadow of the day, valentines day to rock/alternative songs like leave out all the rest to heavy songs like no more sorrow (sounds like metallicas - Am I evil?)or very have tracks like Given up (my second favorite)..
Little thigs give you away is just great.. the solo is beautifull like on some other songs.. Rob has grown and learnt much.. his riffs are sounding much better on MTM.. Mike sings good.. and Chester always had a great voice..on MTM its even better! MTM lyrics are great and there is no bad song..
so stop blaming LP.. and grow up.. its a great album.. 4.5/5
It actually should be, "Forget the wrong that I've done."

I've listened to the album about 15 times and I can say it gets better with each listen. Compared to Hybird Theory, it lacks a little energy, but it still makes you wanna move. But musically, and not to sound mean, but musically it makes their previous efforts sound like shit

I didn't know what to expect from 'Minutes.." but I am pleasantly surprised...
FIRST OFF...anyone who thinks Mike can't rap, doesn't know rap...granted he was outshined on a couple of Fort Minor tracks, most notably by Black Thought on 'Right Now' but he definitely more than holds his own on this CD...i.e. (Hands Held High)
What is really good about this CD:
1. New Sound (hints of vintage U2 in a couple tracks..i like it)
2. Songwriting definitely stepped up, some songs have superb lyrics (got tired of the formulaic song quality of Hybrid and Meteora)
3. Greater use of Chester's voice...in particular, besides his screaming, his melodic voice is really brought out and it really shines on "leave out all the rest', 'what i've done", and 'shadow of the day"
What is not so good about this cd:
1. Doesn't really flow well from one song to another.
2. There 'aggressive' hardhitting rock songs backed by the turntables are lacking (i.e. Crawling, Papercut) which I believe is an important part of their sound...
Overall: 8.7/10

Agreed. Very true to me.
Honestly, I don't care for this album much...but I do enjoy it at the same time.
I think MTM's review of the album is pretty spot-on (IMO). The go for alot of different styles, some they pull off, and some just fall flat. Examples...
In Pieces - While it may have a rad guitar rift towards the end, the song just sound flat and unfinished.
In Between - Uninteresting track. Feels much too raw.
Valentine's Day - Bad start IMO, finished strong. The song sounds too, dare I say, goofy at the start of this track for me.
Now I do love quie a few songs on this album. Given Up, Shadow of the Day, What I've Done, Hands Held High, No More Sorrow. All great track.
But I have to say overall I feel let-down...simply for one reason. I don't like every song on this album. I love every song on LP's two major releases (HT and Met) and I also loved there other works (Reanimated and CC), but MtM just has me in a limbo feeling. I want to love it, because I love LP, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy MtM like I did the other CD's. And thats disappointing.

When i first heard the songs, i was very disappointed... Linkin Park is no longer the same Linkin Park.
Change is good, but too much change is harmful.
It's no longer nu-metal but a variant of Pop Rock.
HT & Meteora were such great albums that the expectations for MTM were very high(a bit too high).
Only the first 6 tracks are good with What I've Done being the best.
Overall I would give it 3/5.
Let's hope the next album will be a return to the basics... I believe LP can do better & they'll do better next time.

Haven't downloaded it.
haven't listened to the 30 second clips either, but I did give in and read a lot of lyrics.
And it looks amazing, I love them, Leave Out All The Rest and TLTGYA strike me as especially powerful. Can't wait, and apparently it actually comes out on the 12th in Australia, rather than the 14th, so I don't have too long to wait.

that is exactly how i feel after listening to this album...
it doesnt suck completely but the fire is out, i just dont feel the music...
maybe is because they are getting older and cant enjoy loud rock anymore...
its just too flat...

Every time i listen to the album, I love it even more!
The only song I haven't fallen in love with yet is Valentine's Day.
TLTGYA was a bit of a disappointment, bu tonce i listened to it, and read what Chaz said about it, I like it. I was affected a good bit by Katrina cuz my dad almost died so this song means a good bit to me...
The rest are all awesome...:D
13 outta 10!
i love the album.
at first i was like.. WTF is this? and nothing really changed for a day or two. but now, i love it. its a proper chill out cd. i like it a lot :)

Wake: It's about as good as I think an intro could be. It sounds a bi like something from White Pony by Deftones, only more upbeat, and I suppose you could say MTM is LP's White Pony.
Given Up: This song reminds me of certain songs from King For A Day by Faith No More, only even nastier but not quite as good. It might be simple but I love the bassline in the verses, however I can see myself growing tired of this song quicker than anything else on the album because of it's simplicity.
Bleed It Out: I love the first verse but it doesn't do much for me after that. I think it shows that LP could probably have taken their old style further without actually doing that very much by itself.
Shadow Of The Day: I love the sampling in this song. Incidentally it was my least favourite songs from the album judging by the clips but now it's one of my favourites. Beautiful.
What I've Done: I've heard it so many times now that it's lost it's original power but it's still miles better than pretty much any other single they've released other than In The End and maybe Papercut.
Hands Held High: The rapping's pretty decent and it sounds nothing like Toy Soldiers to me. Very dull overall though. What's with the chorus? EDIT: This is definitely a song that'll get better with multiple listens.
No More Sorrow: I'd rather have more lead guitar like this than the wankery other people wanted. This is basically what Miss Murder would sound like if it were a) good and b) not desperately trying to sound like any given song off American Idiot, only darker.
Valentine's Day: This is easily the weakest song on the album. It just goes nowhere, the lyrics aren't very good and it disappears from my mind as soon as it ends.
In Between: Not bad, but like a lot of people I'd rather hear Mike rapping or singing harmonies with Chester.
In Pieces - This is my favourite song on the album. I love how it sounds almost like The Police. It's the perfect mix of tenderness and energy.
The Little Things Give You Away: This is probably my second favourite song on the album. It's hard to believe that this is the same band who recorded Meteora and I agree with the band member who said it shows what LP can achieve musically, even if I prefer In Pieces.
I'd give it 7.5/10 which will probably rise the more I listen to it.

Wake: It's about as good as I think an intro could be. It sounds a bi like something from White Pony by Deftones, only more upbeat, and I suppose you could say MTM is LP's White Pony.
I have to completely agree with you saying that this could be LP's White Pony.
Maybe they'll follow in Deftones footsteps further and put out a self-titled heavier album next.
its a possibilty

Cmon LP put out something heavier and something that sounds more like you, not who your trying to be!!
dude, ever heard of people being entitled to their opinion...i am one who thinks this album is beautiful but ill say it again...thats MY opinion.
and again with the 'emo' tag, sorry but i find that ludacris to label this emo, it seems no-one can display a form of emotion nowadays without being labelled that. after all they are human...and thats what we feel.
btw dont try and get people to think like you, they'll think they want :)

no matter how good this album is going to be, i think it would have been more of a crime for lp to release a cd that was exactly along the lines of HT and meteora. they even said themselves they weren't looking for a trilogy. now we have fresh songs that may be different, but every single band has changed there sound throughout the history of music. even metallica played with an orchestra! is that emo?!!?!
well...i was struck at the beginning but i got used to...seems there is a "pop line" in me which falls on the melodies first and then rationalises later...
so,to sum it up
it is a quality album from lp,it has elements of emo,pop,rock,metal,electronica...the softer, ballad sound irritates some of you,but i see it only as a plus.they needed a pause from all the power chords...a great thing is that every song is different, has it's own story, even the harder songs are not the old lp...it's a good album,i would rate it 6/10 considering by my criteria that a 4 is "passable", 5 is average, 6 is good, 7 very good, 8 great, 9 almost perfect and 10 is pure perfection...of course,no album has reached 10 yet :)
ht is also 6 and meteora isn't even passable...3 i would say
treck by track review later

I'm surprised no one ever mentioned Mike's singing on Hands Held High (sorry if someone did and I missed it, but I'm quite sure no one did because I pretty much read every post). It was a nice surprise to hear that. Anyway, I just bought the album and still listening to it. I'll share my thoughts later. :)

Bought this album a couple of hours ago....
And its amazing, I can't believe its the same band! I just know I'll come to love it more than HT and Meteora put together. Lp is here to stay people, these guys have shown that they've got the creativity to stick around as long as they like.
Amazing album, buy it foo's!

I'm listening to it for the first time now and at the moment I'm still deciding which songs I like. "In Pieces" stands out the most so far, I also like "Given Up" (Come on listen to the "Put me out of my misery! part), "Bleed It Out", "Hands Held High" has some of my favourite lyrics.
I really don't like "The Little Things You Give Away" in the first verse, I think Chester is just a bit too high vocally, but the song gets better as it goes along.
I haven't decided yet on the other on, I think they'll have to grow on me a bit more.
Final verdict:Overall pretty good, but "In Pieces" is deadly.

in the 1st album they got IN THE END, 2nd ablum SOMEWHERE I BELONG
they were both good soft songs, but i can not accpet most songs in this new album, maybe i need more time.............

I think I've said this already, but all I asked for in MtM was anything, as long as it WASN'T Hybrid Theory 3 (a la Meteora). The lyrics have improved, they're trying new styles, and I'm diggin' it. My scores:
Hybrid Theory - 5/5
Minutes To Midnight - 4/5
Meteora - 3 (or possibly lower)/5

Maybe you need to mature like they have. If you listen hard it isn't emo, it is about current world issues but it is subtle enough to be timeless. It is a truly beautiful album and shows the strength of LP's diversity.
I love all their old stuff just the same but this is really something else. It is great to be able to hear their older work and then the current. People say they are better then their old stuff, maybe so, but I think that there old stuff is just as good as anything else they have done. I look at LP's music (all of it, including FM) as a broad planar of great music. Of course I like other songs better but I don't think anything is bad.
Back to the album. The lyrics are more miminal in this album, but it has a strong and beautiful cadence, like all their other work. It is just a little different then other songs; no better, no worse, just different.
After all, you can't get better then the best from the beginning, :P

My review:
-Wake-
I think its a very good opening track, the way the needle hits the record shows that its going to be a different sound. has soft sounds and echoing of a drum and guitars being plugged then everything breaks. 3.5/5
-Given Up-
Nice song, i do really like this song, reminds me of the old LP with Chester's strong vocals, him holding his scream is awesome 4/5
-Leave Out All The Rest-
Brilliant song again, the more this song is listened to the more it will grow on people. A different style for some people to get used to. 4.5/5
-Bleed It Out-
I like this song alot, its catchy and very upbeat, you can clearly hear that they have had a good time making this song and the album. 5/5
-Shadow of the Day-
Its a nice song, thats about it, slightly plain, but the lyrics are lovely. 3.5/5
-What I've Done-
At first being the lead single this song gave me a doubt about the new album, the more i listened to it, the more i accepted the change and now i love it, one of the strongest songs on the album for me 4/5
-Hands Held High-
I love it, Mike at his best, the way all the band sing as the choir is brilliant 5/5
-No More Sorrow-
Good song, heavy and again not to disimilar from the old LP stuff we are used to, Chester on top form 4/5
-Valentine's Day-
I absolutely love this song, its got a very catchy chorus and the way it builds up to it is sheer brilliance 4.5/5
-In Between-
For me the weakest song on the album, not because of Mike by any stretch, just because its slow. Maybe it will take getting used to. I like the meaning behind the song, its very heartfelt 3/5
-In Pieces-
Another strong song from LP, i like this, its different from anything they have done and they can pull it off. The Reggae feel to the song is pulled together with strong vocals from Chester 4/5
-The Little Things Give You Away-
A stunning way to end the album, this song clearly shows the maturity that the band now has, so many points of this song can be screamed or feel that it could be taken aggresively, but the fact they hold out is brilliant, the guitar solo is bold and brilliant, it leaves you needing more when they break into the a capella section. i was anxious at first reading that there was going to be a 6+ minute song with a minute and a half solo, but it works very well. 5/5
-Overall-
I bought the CD/MVI/DVD version of this and at first i was a bit tentitive to listen to the album having waiting so long for it, i was also nervous to hear the "new style" that they had come out with. Loads of band have done this and not that many have succeeded, but im pleased to say LP have, they keep reminding us of who they were at points in the album but their new sound is shocking and has left me with my mouth wide open and craving more.
4.5/5 for the album.

well when i first heard it i was getting really worried that this is what LP has turned into but as i listen it grows on me. this is what i think of the album
Wake - This, surprisingly, for me has the best ending to a song. i actually think its one of the best songs on the album. i just love the guitar riff at the end! - 5/5
Given Up - Very cool. love the riff though its quite simple; it reminds me of what LP used to be, with a pop beat. 5/5
Leave Out All The Rest - Easily the best song on the album IMO even though the guitar in the chorus is just one tune. The beat makes it sound like Justin Timberlake but i like him anyways. 5/5
Bleed It Out - Love the guitar tune. Don't really know the lyrics quite well as yet but it sounds cool. The only downside to this song is the beat; it's exactly like 'Song for Clay' by Bloc party, too poppy. 4/5
Shadow of the Day - For some reason when i think of this song, I can't remember what it sounds like. I have to go back and listen to it again to refresh my memory. I love when it it builds up and the guitar comes in. The ending, for me, saved this song from being boring. 3.5/5
What I've Done - Loved this song from the 1st moment I heard it. Very well put together. love the guitar riff. 5/5
Hands Held High - the instrumentals in this song is probably the worst IMO. The lyrics have a deep meaning and i like it but i really hope they don't play this song live because it'll put everyone to sleep. 3/5
No More Sorrow - Really love this song but i prefer the version they played in berlin: At the end of the bridge where the song breaks down mike played a short riff that sounded like an accident but sounds very cool. 5/5
Valentine's Day - this song is very melodic; it still has to grow on me. but the guitar riff at the end is amazing although the chorus is a bit repetitive. 4/5
In Between - Too soft, good to hear mike singing again. Its sounds like its suitable for grey's anatomy or some other drama show. 3/5
In Pieces - Love this song. the guitar is amazing but the song is very poppy. the melody sounds a lot like avril lavigne unfortunately. Still its a great song. 4.5/5
The Little Things Give You Away - Sounded boring at first but its growing on me. Love the guitar solo although its not 1 minute long like they said it was. Its more like 40 seconds. The build-up in this song is the best on the album and it finishes with a intenes climax. 5/5
I would give this album 4/5 but to me thats a disappointment. I was hoping to give it a 5 with some banging guitars and wicked beats. They sound a bit like My Chemical Romance and i hate them. I love the album but feel let down at the same time by this transition. Nu-metal was there strong-point and they left it. It's like they're dead, mixed with U2, MCR and Muse with some rapping. But the banging guitars which we've come to love is replaced by lovely melodies that i think are fantastic. the vocal performances by chester are mind-blowing, mike's rapping has improved a lot but there is a shortage of it, rob's beats are a let-down for me (there is basically no hip-hop influences), major absence of Mr. Hahn, Phoenix has taken a bigger role that before, and Brad's guitar has improved a lot and is just fucking amazing.
A decent 3rd installment.

I think my one major criticism of the album is that the only songs that have much identity are the last two, and Bleed It Out because it sounds the most similar to their previous work. Then again, I guess you can't expect much on that front seeing as this is the first time in their career they've tried to evolve wherease other bands have honed their sound gradually. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that.

After I've listened to it for a while, I really do love this album. I do wish there were like 2 more hard songs, but I can live. The only songs I don't really like are No More Sorrow (gah, I really really really dont like that song except for the intro) and Shadow of the Day (kinda.) I just hate the chorus and bridge on NMS and Shadow of the Day just never really climaxes.
My favorite song on the album is either TLTGYA or Valentine's Day. Both have such amazing endings.

I love the album. It's different, but awesome in it's own way from meteora and HT. They are just changing and evolvin their music as individuals and a band would. After listening carefully, I love it from the beggining to the end, with my favourite being No More Sorrow. My least favourites are In Between, not because of Mike´s vocals (they´re great), but because of the music; and TLTGYA, because of the acoustic/electroacustic guitar in the beggining of the song, but the ending is very good with the guitar solo.

Alright so heres my opinion of this album.
Its amazing.I dont think theres any other band that can deeply touch into your emotions.
I think you guys need to get over yourselves
and stop whining
about how much your disappointed about it.
If you guys are really fans you should support them
all the way no matter what.
I also think that you have to appreciate & accept
what they are doing & how they sound
they are expressing themselves how they are.. its unique.
I Really cant rate each song because they it will be 5/5 or 10/10, %100 overall.
LP is amazing.Thats it, it's that simple.
For the people that think Valentine's Day. Shadow of The day, In Between, TLTGYA or any other ''boring'' songs you think it is.. you must be out of your mind.. they have really amazing lyrics and good rhythms..
Ok. Peace. <3.

If you guys are really fans you should support them

Okay, that's not how it works at all. If a song sounds crap, it sounds crap. You shouldn't like it just because you're a fan of the band that did it. When bands change their sound they win fans and they lose fans. That's just how it goes. A true fan shouldn't support them even if they don't like the new sound, but they should at least give it a chance. I didn't like most of MTM at first but it's grown on me. I still think though that "In Between" is an awful song and never should have been on the album. I'm not going to pretend to like it just cause i'm a huge LP fan.
That's how music works. If you like it you like it. You can't force yourself to like something that you don't.
Do you think a producer sits in the studio with a band and says "yeah dudes, that's great. Awesome work!" to absolutely everything that the band they're working with writes?
A true fan shouldn't just blindly love everything that LP churn out, because it's not honest.

The album is good, but there are obviously some major changes in the music style. I was a little hesitant in buying it, after hearing What I've Done, and thinking it was OK. I picked it up, popped it in, and listened to Given Up. Given Up is a strong track, so I kept listening, then I went to Leave Out All the Rest. When it started, I knew it was very different, but I kept listening. It had good lyrics and was catchy. Bleed It Out was next, and it started. High energy and pure LP. I thought, YES, this is Linkin Park. They haven't forgotten. That energy carried me through the rest. I knew that it was different, but they hadn't forgotten their roots, and that was a very good thing. As long as they remember who they were, I'm okay with change.

Just a warning. Real-time reactions to a 5th through listen. Chaos, reality, and weirdness ensues....
Wake *
Kind of odd. I mean, was there a point? Really? Too simple for an intro, but I guess that was the point. I'm so used to Mr. Hahn's intros... :(
Given Up ****
F*cking love this song. Love the handclaps at the beginning. Catchy, fast, hard... quintessential good music. "Tell me what the fuck is wrong with me?!?!" Ahh.. I love it. Scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's something amazing about his ability to do that for... what... 35 seconds straight? Amazing... truely. Should be a single.
Leave Out All the Rest ***
Nice to hear Mr. Hahn. This song is THICK and slow. There's a lot going on you don't really notice until you pinpoint specific parts. Chester's voice is beautiful. Sad lyrics, but beautifully executed. Ends on an odd note, I think. Wondering, by now, where Mike is. Single.
Bleed It Out ****
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, Mike! Fast... hell yeah. Handclaps again. "I bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away." God, this song is ridiculous. Nice guitar. I don't really listen to Mike's lyrics, just his tone. It just works, man. There's nothing better to me than a song with both Chester and Mike in it. Priceless. Screams.. shit yeah. Single.
Shadow of the Day ****
Hmm... hello Hahn. Haha... I know the lyrics somewhat and sing them without thinking. Good sign. WONDERFULLY constructed chorus. Chester never ceases to amaze me lyrically. He can scream, but it's so so... smooth. Love it. Good beat... the hi-hat's nice. "And the sun will set for you..." Shit... strings? Well, well, well... not quite sure how I feel about those yet. This song's a single... most definitely.
What I've Done ****
I'm sure it's all been said before, but... it's finally here... the song that aounds like the OLD Linkin Park. The intro is industrial and just beautiful. "So let mercy come and wash away what I've done." Not a lot to say about this song other than it's great to listen to and sing with. Not too vocally challenging. No screaming... kind of a let down. Wish it was harder, but then it wouldn't have been universally accepted. The singing at the end is a little odd... I wish that wouldn't have been there. Just the industrial sound at the end would have been enough for me.
Hands Held High ****
Ahh yes... Kenji. Wait... nevermind. Nice drums. Yay Mike! Love these lyrics and love the enunciation and force Mike gives some of his words. This song is just... phenomenal. Amen... great harmony. Organ. It's about damn time someone talked about this shit. Mike can say it's not politically driven or whatever, but... to me it is. I want to express how happy I am Mike is singing lead in the end of this song. Thank you. Your voice is perfect for it. "With hands held high into the sky so blue as the ocean opens up to swallow you." I hope it's a single.
No More Sorrow ***
Handclaps... again! Kick ass, guys. The verses leave a bit to be desired, but the chorus is great. I don't think it's a great idea for a single. SCREAM! Hell, yeah!! "Your time has come to be replaced." Hell yeah it has.
Valentine's Day *
Bland beginning. As more instruments get involved, it gets better. *chuckles* Yay, Mr. Hahn. Monotonous vocals... build up to chorus.. right? Or... or not? No... the song just died... or at least it seems like it did. Where'd everyone go?? Okay, they're back... CHORUS! YAY... too bad it sucks. Worst song so far... I miss Mike... Yay... it's over. Single? No.
In Between **
Yay Mike in LEAD! Too bad the lyrics suck. I'm happy he decided to sing lead, but... know when to ask for help hon. This album took a huge falloff there. WTF happened?? "Things I wanna say to you get lost before they come / the only thing that's worse than one is none." Okay... Hey, umm... how about verses that don't repeat themselves? Not a single. Yay... it's over.
In Pieces **
MR. HAHN!!!!!!! Thank you, God. I hope this song rocks... it's about time. Not quite... well.... interesting. Yay for scratches! Too bad they were used in a song that didn't deserve them. The chorus is good, but the verses are basically non-existant. I don't think this song needed a guitar solo... I mean... didn't do any good. Why, with only a minute left, does the song get more interesting? Sounds like a 311 knockoff. Not a single.
The Little Things Give You Away *
Yay Mr. Hahn. Umm... acoustic? Okay. Acoustic's never been bad. Beautiful voice, Chester... Jesus... seriously. Nice chord changes. Split audio... nice touch. Strings again... still don't know how I feel about those things... I think they have their place, but... not in an LP song. Holy crap... what the hell is coming out of the left speaker? Does that hi-hat go with the beat or against it? That totally throws me off... Uhh... yeah, don't like that. Weird. Boring. Another solo.. nice. It's like they put the solos in the wrong songs or something... Doesn't matter how crappy the song is, Chester's voice makes everything better... even for a moment. Yay Mike! Sing it, buddy... acapella ending. Interesting way to end an album. Not a single.
Overall verdict: About average, as albums go. I wish they would have balanced it out better. All the crappy songs were at the end, which was boring. I'll probably just stick the first 8 songs (minus Wake.) Not as good as Theory and Meteora. Even though it's completely different in lots of ways, I took that into consideration. It's just not up to par. 2.75/5:cry:

It's a shame how so many months into MTM being released and all I listen to is Given Up. LP's previous albums I could listen to continuously, they had so much energy which kept me coming back to them. This new album portrays a completly different band with a different approach, everyone seems to think thats a good direction to go in but I beg to differ.

I'm still enjoying it. I think a lot of the reason I'm getting so much out of it, is 'cos most of the guitar parts are fairly easy for me to play, but they're still enjoyable, so I do listen to it as I play a lot of the time.
Still, solid album, No More Sorrow just keeps growing on me, and the lyrics in Leave Out All The Rest are still some of the most thought provoking LP's have ever been.

I still listen to it heaps. Mainly Given Up(favourite track), Bleed It Out, What I've Done(albeit overkill), No More Sorrow and The Little Things Give You Away. The last being a really meaningful song that I think if I were personally connected to hurricane katrina, AND I was a girl, I'd probably cry haha lol
