How much do you think album is going to sell???
I'm thinking something around 8 million, anything less than that would be a faliure...
you may say, "why do you care about the sales that's not important???"
Well I'm worried because if this doesn't sell as expected, im sure the band would break up, and that kind of suks...

well Hybrid Theory was Diamond, Meteora Platinum x6, so hrmmm probably 8-10 mil.
This album won't go pass Meteora's sales.
Why? Because it's been four years. And frankly, people might be turned off by their new sound.

I'm going to say about 5 million as well.
But it will probably sell a lot in it's first week.

I agree. I think the number of fans lost will certainly outweight the number gained. Personally, I do want it to be a success, but not that successful. Yesterday, this kid starting playing WID in class for everyone, but it was obvious he didn't really care:
"I think they got rid of the rapper. Didn't he make that remix cd, and then left for his own thing?"

5 million it's kind of low i surely hope it goes better than that...
i mean Meteora sold nearly 11 million, 5 is less than a half of that...
Well I'm worried because if this doesn't sell as expected, im sure the band would break up, and that kind of suks...
i really don't think LP would break up over that, but that's just my opinion

 I've experienced that one a handful of times and I've heard multiple stories of that as well from my friends. Bothers me for some reason.
I personally think this album will surpass Meteora in sales. From everything I've read, it just seems to me that "The Little Things Give You Away" will boost sales big time. And although they may lose part of the younger fan base, I believe they will gain a much older fan base. I know my parents will prefer this record because there is less rapping. I'm sure "What I've Done" will start this effect if it already hasn't. Just my opinions.

What about the cussing? Or will you get the edited version?

I will never buy an edited album. And I never said anything about that but I think I know what your saying. I can safely assume LP will not swear on most of the tracks and if they do, it wont be a Limp Bizkit "Hot Dog" track so people will not be turned off by it. I kind of look at it like an Audioslave album with a few more curse words here and there. Plus, like you said, there is an edited option for people who want to buy the album but don't want the cursing. So there still may be a sale there.

How the fuck do I know?
This album might suck big time.
This album might be the greatest record in this millenium.
I'll try guessing on May 14th :)

Im hoping 8-10 million. Realistically, its probably gonna sell around what Meteora sold. I think that while, yes it will turn off some younger fans, MTM will definately bring in an older group. There seems to be a lot of good press going around after that listening party, so I think that that may also boost sales. Also, whoever said that TLTGYA would boost album sales, I do not think that there is even a slight chance that that will be released as a single. Its way to long, and probably has no chance at commercial success.

This is either going to be absolutely huge, and eclipse Hybrid Theory, or it'll sell well, ie. about 7 million copies.
Really we still don't know how its gonna sound so its hard to guess.

I agree. Either it will be bigger than Hybrid Theory because music needs that, or at least like 7 Million at the end of it all. It will probably be one of the bigger music sales successes this year, since LP is good at not letting things leak. Oh, FIRST POST! I rule. (^_^)
4-5 milion by the end of this year

I really hope LP surpases the success of Meteora...simply because I believe this album will determine LP's future successes.....this is the break-out album they beleive they have always wanted to be associated with...lets hope the rest of the world agrees with them!

Within 2-4 years time, Minutes To Midnight will surpass Meteora's sales. It does afterall take time for people to buy the album; usually what makes new fans want to buy the album is the release of singles that they really like and it will take time to do that.

Agreed on that...
The thing is that everybody can just easily download their whole album by Lime Wire now, so what would be the point to buy the CD when you could get it free?...
I think this record is going to have bigger sales internationally than in USA. After all, Linkin Park is pretty much the best known band in Asia, Europe and South America.

Especially in Asia, probably because 2 of their members are proudly asian.

Japan is the "bingo" country for LP...
so yup...
Hmm some people in the Interactive Games Design course spread a rumour that MTM was on sale in the UK now... I am never letting my boyfriend off the fact that he dragged me into HMV to see how much it would cost, when he knows I am upto date on everythign LP related at any moment in time :P

I'm sure it will sell enough that they'll be doing alright and decide to make a fourth one...lol It seems like M2M is achieving a pop like sucess already and it's not even released yet. Arleady # 1 on TRL.
I say it has the potential to sell 4 to 5 million in the US and ten million worldwide by two years, but it depends on how much they tour and everything else.

with their new sound coming throughit is expected fans will be lost...and fans gained.it is hard to see M2M eclipsing HT in sales...i just think there are to many unsure heads atm about their new found sound.give the M2M sales time as it has to adjust for the shift in their fanbase.i do think it will sit pretty somewhere in between their 2 previous albums.i will be buying it asap myself...i will die an LP fan lol

I agree with marijaLPnarkos and I think we should await the whole album to see how many copies M2M could sell. The three released songs are for the moment very eclectic so we could be surprised by the rest of the album.

I'm hoping they will reach Diamond, but it wouldn't surprise if it they don't with this album... I'm just not sure how many people will enjoy the new sound:sleep:

What do you mean there's no screaming? Have you heard Given Up or No More Sorrow? Personally I like the "new" LP sound, it sound much more mature than HT or Meteora but yeah, we'll have to listen to the entire album first...

This album will lose the fans who will dearly miss the constant heavy tracks that LP are well known for. But, it will gain even more fans that may have not been fans of Hybrid Theory or Meteora.
I've already allowed 3 or 4 friends to listen to some of the songs on this album and they love it.
I am estimating that within 2-3 years, this album will sell around 8-10 million copies.

I don't really know. It will most-likely go multi-platinum, and maybe out-sell, meteora. I'm not sure if it will go diamond, but maybe.

and im not happy saying this because i love tha band, i wish everything goes well for the guys but im not buying this album...
this isn't even rock anymore its like Maroon 5 mixed with something reaaaaly bad...
and i was one of the people waiting for a change not somethig this bad
good luck anyway...
i wish this thing flops badly so the guys realize that this isnt the right path to go but i know it probably go well becaus of how much fall out boy/basktreet boys with guitars this piece of "whatever" has...

You have to look at this as a fan of Linkin Park, not as a fan of the genre.
If you're a fan of LP, then you'll love the album as you'll know that they have matured their sound/lyrics. But if you're a fan of the Nu Metal genre, then this absolutely will not be what you expected. I look at it from the LP fan side.

I guess 498,000 first week in the US, with it eventually going triple platinum or even more...

Well I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that AOL represents a huge portion of what the general public will think of this album. So, in that, Minutes to Midnight should outsell Meteora and possibly Hybrid Theory.
