View Full Version : New Posts Now Moderated

Due to increasing, oh, how should I put this nicely, ahh screw it, I'll just say it, stupidity in posts, bringing the average IQ of the forum down to that of the president of the USA, we are now requiring any posts made by anyone with fewer than 100 posts to sit in a moderation queue until we approve it. We hope this is temporary, but the news of new LP seems to be bringing all of the morons out. This is not directed as a personal attack towards a single person, but a trend we've been noticing over the past few weeks.

Once you reach 100 posts, within an hour, vB will update your usergroups so you can post without moderation.

What happened to the "Mark's shoe-size IQ" rule?

Derek

Mark's feet shrank so it got redundant .

Well, we can use another body part's length to determine what the minimum IQ should be, but that number tends to go up and down

I think this should be permanent...well after the new LP gets released. Set people straight.

Reminds me of another forum I go to where you need 300 posts to share media and all of that stuff that is not allowed here.

Well this definitely was the best idea we've ever had. More argumentative/stupid/necroposting replies have been stopped in the last 12 hours than what we ever could've done without this enabled.

I think most veterans will be happy to know that 98% of the stupid replies that used to annoy you, will now never see the light of day.

Yep, we would've had a 4 year old necropost if it wasn't for the queue

I applaud the new policy. Now maybe we can gain what little intelligence we have left from that whole fiasco.

If you ask me I think LPA feels a lot more intelligent now that we block stupid posts from ever appearing.

Maybe it's the lack of sleep, but I just finally found out where to find all of those moderated posts.

Yeah...don't mind me.

I love this feature, btw.

Really...I wish I was joking about the entire thing or at least exaggerating the length of time, but I wasn't. Some n00b necroposted in this thread (http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1976), over 4 years old

Not only that, but he commended on the artwork which was posted, but between several server moves and a forum software conversion, was lost ages ago

Wow... just... wow.

Yeah, that rule is definitely needed at this point.

EDIT: Although one post did get by that necroposted in a 2 month old topic about Deviantart...

Just an update:

We've reduced it to 50 posts, so once you reach that, posts will not be moderated. Since we're moderating posts anyways, we also removed the 25 post requirement rule to start new threads.

Just don't post stupid, and you won't have any problems.

Derek
04-11-2007, 12:59 AM
You may not, but it was because people were posting impossible to read posts with little intelligence.

Just get 41 more posts and you'll never have to worry about it anymore.

First of all, I don't see why you don't like it. So your posts get delayed an hour, big deal. We're the ones that have to read all these posts and approve them, and more often than I'd like to admit, fix atrocious spelling and grammar errors that someone in 2nd grade would've have made.
