The only thing that bothers me is that it would be impossible for them to communicate with us.
Since the speed of light is the fastest you can go and it would take centuries to reach us...
I think it's more likely that the universe is a circle and we're just in a stage of it, like other solarsystems would be further or a little back in the circle.
I also think there's another Earthlike planet out there, but it's just way back or way ahead in the circle and that's why we can't find life on it...

I think that about sums it up.
Besides, 'In a Short History of Nearly Everything' there's a very good statement, along the lines of that the nearest planet with life could as well be millions of light years away, meaning that there is little chance some aliens would undertake a journey that will take them probably many, many years, probably more than then live, even if they travel at the speed of light to look for some planet out there which may also have life? So, there is little chance of discovering them but they almost definelty MUST exist, because the universe is huge. It's...everything.

Existence of these possibilities creates questions. Always. For every question, there is always an answer. Nevertheless, new questions are created from these answers. Its part of the cycle of existence.

I don't believe until I see it, but stories and superstitions make people think that they are true, even though they haven't seen one exept on video cams.

But for any of those in doubt.. look up the Anthropic Principle. Seriously.
If you don't want to, I'll explain it a little bit.
Think of the odds of life arising being very slim. Very very slim. 1/1,000,000,000. No one knows exactly the right number. Especially with the environments in certain ways, it might be more or less. However, keep in mind how large the universe is. We have millions, probably billions, of planets in our galaxy alone. Take that number and remember that there are billions of galaxies with billions of more planets. Billions of galaxies with billions of solar systems like ours. It's highly unlikely, in my eyes, that there wouldn't be intelligent life elsewhere, or at least some sort of life, if not intelligent.
EDIT: Oh my god, just noticed the Mark Hoppus thing. I'm slow.

I do. And while I think that a lot of the abduction stories I know of are bs there are also quite a few that seem at least plausible enough to say that there's at least some truth in there. It's exactly what humans would do if we could travel to other planets.

Hum, i don't know and i don't really care if there's an alien form of life. First of all, i have to say that i don't believe a single story about aliens arriving on Earth, since they would have to be extremely well developped organisations, so evolved that the chances of us taking notice would be zero anyway ;p
Additionaly, the possibility of them having common characteristics with human beings is also tiny. Alien life can vary from a single bacteria cell to a life form that we can't even sense- the fact we were evolved based on one life structure (the first cell's that is) doesn't mean aliens have to be like that as well.
It's all a matter of possibilities, i believe. Aliens don't "have to" exist, neither are they something totally impossible to exist.
I hope i made sense. Dammit, my English is getting worse and worse =\
You know those theories about aliens visiting the planet in ancient times, helping humankind develop and being mistaken for gods? The Bible says we were created in the image of God. so if you put two and two together that's one explanation for how they might have human characteristics, whether it's plausible or not.

Hahah, good one, hadn't thought of it that way. Well, i believe in neither of these two theories, i prefer to think of God as nature itself and probability laws- as far as human life is concerned (not the universe's creation, that is) but this is a logical link between different beliefs.
i believe in aliens, and i also believe something might have happened at Roswell but..thats iffy

Anyways, chances are that aliens do exist and I fully understand why people think that but I'm with the whole "seeing is believing" thing.
I mean, there's no solid evidence to show that there are aliens (No, Roswell is not solid evidence) so why would I be led to believe it?
And even if there is life on other planets, who are we to go and fuck it up? I mean, it's pretty reasonable to suggest that we will do. :lol:

It is ridiculous to believe that we are the ONLY form of living, breathing inhabitants in this galaxy. Why would we be the lucky ones to be on this planet. No, i can understand there is no life on certain planets due to extreme heat or cold. But planets that we do not even know of yet, most certainley have life on it, and i am willing to bet my life on it
Beings from different planets might be able to cope with extreme conditions. They might breathe something other than oxygen, and so on.

i am a very religous christian and i do believe there are other life forms out there. not like all green with big black eyes but maybe more like animals or different species out there. god created us but it is arrogant to think that there isn't at least another form of life out there at least to the smallest degree. i dont believe in evoultion. i think it just isn't real, not enough information to be true/be enough to disprove the bible, but i do beleive that there are other forms of life out there, just not like E.T. and all...
