Crap, I just made a thread about this.

Anyway, his condition is meant to be improving, which is good to hear. Brainiac and Top Gear are great.

Hammond is a legend. He's a really watchable and talented presenter.

Get well soon, Hamster Hammond.

Poor Hamster.. I heard about this on the way to college this morning.. Apparently he'll pull through (doctors are 'Optimistic'), but he's suffered serious brain injury. When they say doctors are optimistic though i'm not sure if that's about the brain damage getting better or just him being able to get out of hospital. I only found out today he actualy lives in the same town as me aswell. Weird.. Anyway, i seriously hope he getrs better.. and back to Top Gear if that's possible. It wouldn't be the same without him..

EDIT: On a side note, is there a reason this is in kickback cafe? it just seems more serious than that to me..

I hope that he gets well soon.

Top Gear is awesome and Brainiac is pretty cool too.

Wow. I always knew something like that would happen though. He's lucky he didnt get killed. Top Gear is more or less my favorite show on the earth. I miss Tiff Needell as the presenter though, but Hammond is pretty damn good too.

I hope he can recover.

When I merged, I acccidentally merged them into the KBC topic instead of the SC topic. M'bad. Thanks.

I really hope he pulls through alright, he's the main reason I tuned into brainiac in the first place. Although, Jon Tickle is quite the character as well.

I had no idea they aired Brainiac in the states.
Well, the latest news is that he's suffering from "Serious brain injury", don't know any more specific than that. Hopefully he'll be okay.

i just keep wondering what top gear will be like without him, i mean after the doctors saying he has a severe injury, i doubt he will ever be able to drive again, but it allways happens to the best presenters

Keep in mind they haven't said permanent injuries though.

I don't know much about science or anything, but.. serious brain injuries sounds pretty permanent to me... that seriously fucking sucks.

Depends on what part of the brain and how bad the injuries are....its possible to sustain a brain injury in a serious accident like this, and a month later, you wouldn't even know you had that injury.

I'm hoping for the best and hope he gets better. Top Gear won't be the same without him

Like i said, i'm no scientist, so you're probably right :) But yeah, although, to me, Top Gear has always been Jeremy Clarksons show, Richard has always been an amazing part of it, doing the stuff that Jeremy can't do. I really do hope he can come back.. it really wouldn't be the same..

Out of Intensive Care and into "High Dependancy" ward. Next 10 days will be critical but everyone is looking hopefull.

Clarkson called him a crap driver and got a grin from him. Hearing that made me smile as well.

May has been telling journalists a few moments ago that he has had a conversation with Hammond. May says "It wasn't a very long conversation. But it was a conversation".

The little guy is a right fighter. Tiny people are like that.

And meeeh - made it in 10 minutes. Fancied a change.

Yeah, May told reporters something along the lines of "He's still the same irritating little shit we all know and love" :D

And according to Clarkson, the only physical injury is a black eye...not even a broken bone. I'm no doctor, but with that news, I'm sure he'll make a full recovery

XD

The line actually was "deep down, the Hammond I know is still intact" - but I see where that could have come from XD

And yeah, I've been glued to SKY News all day

According to finalgear.com, it was:

“I was chuffed to see him and although he’s muttering, he seems much like the irritating little shit I know and love. Even when he can’t say much, he seemed to make as much sense as he does when he can talk normally.”

I dont know how much I believe that coming from May, he doesn't seem like the type of person to have a sense of humor like that, but I suppose it's possible. But the crap driver bit from Jeremy didn't surprise me at all

Nikki
09-22-2006, 06:52 PM
May? Making a swear? Showing modern humor?

Definately doesn't sound like him.

they wont quit the show if richard doesnt return, theyve been doing top gear for about 20 years, i think theyd carry on, but top gear would not be the same without him, but hey, if the doctors say he is recovering, i can wait for top gear, as long as hammond is ok, safety first

Hammond will come back. Even if he was permanently injured, he'd come back just to stop Top Gear being cancled. But anyway, apparently, people raised so much money for the air ambulance (that lifted him to hospital after his crash) that they are going to name one after him.

Hammond has been moved out of the hospital to a location closer to his home. Seems that little Hamster is quite the strong little bastard.

Here he is giving the airlift people a cheeky grin:

He is making a LOT of progress.
