View Full Version : California to pass legislation to exterminate pitt bull dogs

The California government is trying to pass a bill that will call for the extermination of all pitt bull dogs. This is complete bullshit. Just because some people can't train their dogs, a few cases, and all of a sudden every pitt bull needs to die? I'm sorry, but not all of them are like that. I happen to know a few people who have pitt bulls and they are sweet, playful dogs. The only reason any dog attacks is because it feels threatened or it wasn't trained right, if at all. If the government passes this bill, this would be a complete travesty.
What does everyone else think?

Wow, what a pile of shit. Really, if they're going to kill all the pitbulls, they might as well go get all the German Shepherds, too. I've heard they can be extremely violent. Nevermind that I have to of them and they wouldn't hurt anyone. What about bears? Why haven't we killed all of the bears yet? I've heard of sharks killing people, too...
Why would they let a few random cases determine the fate of an entire breed?
I've known some pretty loving pitbulls, too.

This is flat out stupid.
Hey, you know what? People kill more people than animals each year. Let's kill all the people too. Oh wait. That's murder. I forgot.
Double standard? Check.
This is bull shit, literally.
Seriously though, there are so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to start.

Strange, those were my exact first thoughts when I read this topic.

Is there any way to remove a state from the Union? -_-
*Looking at sig* I should probably find a picture of a flag with 48 stars now.

That's probably the stupidest thing ever. Pitt Bull dogs aren't the worst dogs out there. Everyone takes them to be mean dogs who maul people to death. The only time they really do hurt someone is when they feel threatened. That's like saying, "Okay, let's kill every shark because they tend to bite people a lot." or "Okay, let's kill every person who bullies little kids because they're mean little brats."
It's ridiculous.
Yeah, this is a bunch of crap. Dogs are behaved the way they are trained. If you raise it properly, you can make a pit bull behave as well as a poodle.

Honestly, what's the likeliness of this to pass?
Lot's of outrageous bills come through all the time. But they're not really anything worthy of getting worked up about.

Well it's that fact that most of those bills are never usually covered by media as much as this one.

California is uber-Republican-Conservative, sadly I think the bill actually stands a chance of passing. =(

I don't think they should kill all the pitbulls. if they need to do something they should just ban them. and to the person who said "why aren't they getting rid of german shepards, I heard they can be really violent".....I don't know about you but I haven't seen anything on the news recently about a german shepard attacking little kids, I've seen 4 or 5 cases (out of god only knows how many in the US) on the news about pitbulls attacking little kids so I think they have good cause for thinking pitbulls should all be exterminated.
The exact same thing happened in the UK in the 80s when Margeret Thatcher decided to exterminate all pit bull terriers and ban them from the UK because they were seen as too violent, the thing is that no one listened to her and everyone kept their dogs

i dont think the dogs should be exterminated...thats like what the nazis did to the jews. singling out pitbulls for extermination just because they tend to be more violent its exactly like singling out jews for extermination because they were better bussinessmen then the germans were!

Wow. Very poor and inaccurate analogy.
I do think this bill is bullshit. For the reasons stated by people before me.

That was in extremely bad taste. It was basically mocking the Holocaust.

California is uber-Republican-Conservative, sadly I think the bill actually stands a chance of passing. =(
It's actually very liberal and Democrat. That is why it is so surprising that they elected a Republican to office.
I personally love California. I was not only born, but raised there.
This is a rediculous bill. I think one of the only reasons it is being suggested is becuase of pressures from some very loud people who are causing a fuss.
A thing like this should never be passed.
Did you know that there are actually more documented cases of Golden Retrievers attacking than Pitt Bulls? Pitt Bulls are just scary, so they get MUCH more attention. Since Pitts have such a bad reputation already, it is far too easy to just put the blame on them.

They elected him cuz he's famous, and, well, it's California, home of Hollywood.
But yeah, even with the majority of the population in the state being Democratic, I dunno...anybody know if the courts and everything in California are Republican majority?

They elected him becuase he is famous, not only that, but they were fucked over by thier last governor so they needed a change.
It is a Democratic state.
This bill will not pass.

it had nothing to do with him being famous it's just a coincidence but I don't think he'll pass the bill. he owns an illegal animal (ferret) so he has no right to kill all those dogs, how would he feel if someone took his ferret and killed it......I doubt he would like that at all

Whether you think it does or not, him being famous had a lot to do with his election.
Having people know your name is the ONLY way people get elected. If you havn't heard of them, you're not voting for them. It's as simple as that.

How about passing legislation to exterminate the people who train pitbulls to become murderous. This is retarded. I used to think that pit bulls were at fault, but it shouldn't be their fault that they are vicious by nature. If they exterminate pit bulls, then they should go down to the San Diego Zoo and exterminate all the other non-domestic animals. It's only fair.

Sorry, "retarded" is not allowed on these forums. You're warned.

I'm a bit irritated by the fact that people are generalizing each state by their political party. Don't just bash the entire state, refer to the individuals who wanted this bill passed. They are the guilty party (no pun intended)
I am, too, angry at the passing of this bill. If people trained the dogs right, this commotion would not have been started.
killing every pitbull..thats in-humane, if that bill gets passes im gonna hope all those pitbulls get outa Cali i mean COME ON thats insane

This law was attempted to be passed in NY and the tri-state area last year. It was pit bulls, german shephards, bull dogs, rottwhielers and any other type of "viscious" dog. I think it's horrible that these breeds have gotten such a bad name because of the way they've been used. If you get a pit bull pup and raise it right? They're some of teh sweetest dogs I've ever been around.
My thoughts on this?
Bull.
Shit.
