VLADIVOSTOK, Russia -- The U.S. Navy will send an unmanned rescue vehicle to help efforts to save a Russian mini-submarine stuck on the floor of the Pacific with seven crew members on board, a Russian navy spokesman said Friday.
Capt. Igor Dygalo said in remarks broadcast on Russian television that a U.S. plane will fly to a base in San Diego to pick up a robotic rescue vehicle and then deliver it to the accident site off the Kamchatka Peninsula.
The Russian navy said the seamen had enough air to survive for one more day.

First of all, if someone cracks a joke about them being called "seamen" in the article, I will kill you.
But anyway, this is sort of reminding me of the incident with the miners in Pennsylvania a couple years ago. Hopefully they get these guys out alive...

Dear goodness, how many times has this happened? Russians must have horrible luck when it comes to submarines or something. Good luck to them, anyways... hopefully they'll make it out.

I was just thinking that, didn't another Russian sub go down last year or something?
Apparently this one got caught in a large fishing net off the Pacific coast near California and is in about 650 feet of water.

Well, if I remember correctly, it happened last year or two years ago... and I seem to recall it happening at least two other times before that, too.

This reminds me of those tense underwater movies, like something something Red October. I hope those guys get out alive.

Kursk* And this time instead of 118 people, it's just a mini-sub carrying 7 guys. But at least this time Russia is actually asking for international help...

Pfft, French, English, and either way it's still Russian! But anyway, I actually remember the Kursk as being probably the most tragic loss of life that was all over the news back in 2000. It was awful...
Anyway, there seems to be some good news, even though they haven't been able to lift it yet, the sub has been towed to shallower waters, where the unmanned craft thing has a better chance at getting it to the surface.
i hope they get out :wth:

That's why he invaded Iraq and blew up Afgahnistan, to prevent terrorists from blowing America up.

Actually, I need to correct myself. Britian saved the people on board because they were closer. But we had two (I forget the name of it) on it's way. Either way, we were still going, and Bush is still a monster.

Because Bush gets involved in EVERYTHING on here. Look in the topics in Serious Chat. Most of them end up with Bush and America.

this may sound bad and no offense but every single russian person I have met has been extremely rude to me and I live in a town that is full of russians. I'm a nice person and I don't start shit but everytime I look at one of the russian guys at school the wrong way he threatens to kill me. I'm not saying the guys on the submarines were like that but if they were I don't really give a shit if they die.
...
Okay, so back to poking fun at Bush and America...

I hate it when people say "no offense" then go on to say something like that. It might as well be "sorry in advance".
LMAO at lpassailant. I guess it's okay if the seamen are alive and well.

So you're saying that on the pretense that they were snobby, you would let them die in one of the most horrible ways possible? I spend a lot of time in Russia, and the people there and where I stay are really, really nice and helpful. Oh well. Never mind. Glad to see they're alive. Even though it was a while ago.
