View Full Version : Katie Holmes apparently dropped...

Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have signed to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. Movie bosses are thrilled with the response to Batman Begins - it took $46.9 million in its first weekend at the US box office - and have snapped up the film's stars for a sequel. Bale as Batman was the first to put pen to paper, followed by Caine as butler Alfred and Freeman as Bruce Wayne's business associate Lucius Fox. But Holmes won't reprise her role as district attorney Rachel Dawes - reportedly because Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie. A source tells Pagesix.Com, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman." Adding of Holmes, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom."

Michael Caine > you.

I still haven't seen the current Batman, though. :(

Oh, fucking snap.

I thought Mrs. Holmes did a good job playing the love interest, but I'm not going to put up a fight about it. If they want to cast another love interest, so be it.

I look forward to Harvey Dent appearing in the sequel, hopefully. We need Two-Face, goddamnit.

Oh snap, she was some good eye candy.

Batman Begins rocked and I can't wait for the sequels!

Hahaha. Tom Cruise fucked this up for her I bet. But like most female actresses she probably didn't like the part anyway.

Meh, it's a shame. It would have been nice to see a full returning cast, but like Casey said, it's not that big of a deal. Either way, most likely the next movie will be brilliant (hopefully) just like Batman Begins.

Katie Holmes was weak in the movie, didn't like her much. I'm thinking a reappearance of Catwoman would kick ass.

They've killed the Catwoman character. Blame Halle Barry.

I say bring back Poison Ivy.

The Scarecrow should come back, he wasn't really a huge role in the film.

The actor who played him was really good.

Yeah.

*Spoiler*

I was a little dissapointed with The Scarecrow's exit. Nothing ever really came of it, he just rode away on the horse after being shot with electricity if i remember correctly. He could come back, but i doubt they'll use the same villain twice, atleast without bringing in somebody else too.

After Halle Barry's horrible performance? That'd be fucking hard to do.

I completely agree. I mean, Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villian, and he was amazing in the movie, but what a horrible, horrible way to go.

"Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie."

Wow. Is it just me or does that not sound like a major company at all. Warner Bros is throwing a hissy-fit because of this crap. El oh el

I would also love to see scarecrow come back.....
He just may....this movie was meant to be completely seperate from the others....so we shall see.

I would also like to see clayface in a movie....but even with CG...that would be pretty difficult...but they can do it.
Madhatter would be kind of cool too....but hes a bit similar to the scarecrow, so maybe not

Yeah, it'd be hard after a bomb like that, but get a great script and an actress like Michelle Phfiffer (sp?), and it could work.

If Warner is self-concious about Katie Holmes' relationship with Tom Cruise, they're definately not going to re-introduce Catwoman into a new Batman movie after it flopped like that.

I Don't Need No Accuser

No Catwoman. I hated her in the other Batman movie. It's cool that they're bringing the Joker into the next movie. As much as I thought Jack Nicholis(sp?) was good, the Joker to me is more of a skinny build and it would just look right to me if the Joker was skinny. I was also thinking Clayface would be a good villian but I couldn't think of the name!

And that Katie Holmes thing is ridiculous. I didn't think she was that great in the movie, but if the publicity of her relationship got in the way of a role...wow. Anyone else think that it would make the movie more popular?
