LONDON (AP) - The London premiere of Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" turned into a war of words after Tom Cruise was squirted in the face by a man posing as a reporter.
The 42-year-old actor was outside a movie theater in central London's Leicester Square doing press interviews Sunday when a man squirted Cruise with a water pistol disguised as a microphone, London's Metropolitan Police said.
Cruise appeared to laugh but then asked the prankster: "Why would you do that?"
As the man gave a barely audible excuse, Cruise said: "Do you like thinking less of people, is that it?" The prankster tried to walk away but Cruise reached across the metal barrier, held his arm and said: "Don't run away. That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview and you do that ... it's incredibly rude."
The actor grew increasingly irritated and told the man: "You're a jerk."

That was a stupid prank, but a funny response from Tom Cruise.

I just saw the video on Access or E, I forget which one. I think Cruise's reaction was perfect. He didn't over react but he also didn't let it go. That was a stupid prank and some one like Tom Cruise who is incredibly nice to reporters and such shouldn't get that kind of treatment.

Well, what could he do? If he had hit the guy he knows it'd cause a big uproar. All he could do was scold the guy and he did just that.

Cruise did well to just call the reporter a jerk and just generally scold him without knocking seven bells out of him, which he looked capable of.
I've been reading about this over the past couple of days. Even though it was meant for a joke, it was still fucking stupid. Tom Cruise is one of the nicest guys around and doesn't deserve that at all, i don't blame him for his response.
Awww, did the poor wittle baby get some wah-wah in his face?
Yeah, it was a dumb prank, but arrests? Give me a break. There are murderers walking around and law enforcement is more concerned with someone who squirt water in a celebrity's face.

Tom Cruise had no choice but to deal with it like that,if he started throwing fists and shouting etc. then the media would eat him alive
But fucking hell, arrested for squirting some water at someone? Whats the world coming to

Police detained the man who squirted Cruise and also arrested three other men who filmed the incident. The four were working on a new comedy show for British TV station Channel 4 in which celebrities are the targets of practical jokes.
Police released the men on bail several hours later and ordered them to return to a central London police station Monday, when a fourth was ordered to be held for further questioning, the police spokesman said.

I just love Tom cruise even more right now, Perfect.
It amazed me how calm he stayed. He reminded me of my father
He always does that so he might look smarter than the other person.
If I was tom, I'd kick the hell out that person, as a girl. :innocent:
