No. Pop groups splitting up/with members going solo can bring about some great music. Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson, for example.

People are missing the point. The Spice Girls made catchy, throwaway pop music. They aren't being pretentious as to whether they're manufactured or not. They aren't trying to use profound lyrics, they aren't trying to show off technical musical prowess. If you don't like it, tune the fucking radio into Kerrang! or something, then you can listen to the manufactured shit you do like.
