I was listening to alot of heavy metal last night so I thought I'd ask what everyone's favorite Guitar solo song is

Mine is probably Guns N' Roses-Sweet Child O' Mine,I love the guitar solo soooooo much,it has to be the best one ever,Slash is probably the best guitarist in the world.

There's a mini-guitar solo in The White Stripes' Ball & Biscuit that I cream over everytime I hear it.

you just saved my brain!

I've been playing the intro for about 2 days now and couldn't for the life of me figure out what song it was. By saying that you just saved me about weeks worth of confusion.

And Back On Topic:

Sweet Child O' Mine.

Well, since my favorites have been mentioned, I'll mention some lesser-liked/known ones:

Adema's "Vikraphone"
SR-71's "In My Mind" and "Hello Hello"

Ahhh, man, I had more to list, but I just had a brain fart.

My top 10:

1. Van Halen - Eruption
2. Yngwie Malmsteen - Arpeggios From Hell
3. Ozzy - Crazy Train
4. Metallica - Master of Puppets
5. GNR - Sweet Child O' Mine
6. Zep - Stairway to Heaven
7. Metallica - One (There's 3 solos and they all kick ass, lol)
8. AFI - Dancing Through Sunday
9. Ace Frehley - 2001: A Space Odyssey (He only played this one live with Kiss, so you probably haven't heard it, but HOLY SHIT)
10. Alter Bridge - Open Your Eyes

Anything by someone with the last name Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, or Gilbert is good too. ;)

Once upon a time, before Weezer was created, frontman Rivers Cuomo played lead guitar in a terrible hair metal band called "Avant Garde." God damn, he can shread. The only good thing about that band was the guitar solos. Fucking incredible...

That having been said, I really like the solo in Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" and just about any solo that Jimmy Page plays.

EDIT: Sublime has some great solos. "Seed" is a good one, and the solo in "Santeria" is by far the best part of that entire song.

Did you know he did the solo from The Beatles' 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps?'

...add that to my list.

hellflame: No, I just thought it would be a nice alternative to the vanilla PWND.

The solo at the end of Lip Gloss & Black by Atreyu is pretty good. It's simple but with the piano, it sounds awseome.

a life in ashes

i'm sorry guns 'n' roses-sweet child of mine is the best solo.ever.

As I said before when I started this topic,Guns 'N' Roses-Sweet Child O' Mine was the best guitar solo ever but here are a fer runner ups:

Metallica-Nothing Else Matters
Trivium-Like Light To The Flies
The Scorpions-Rock You Like A Hurricane
Iron Maiden-No More Lies
Black Lable Society-Suicide Messiah

Scotty
06-11-2005, 03:54 PM
Coffee And TV by Blur has a neat solo. It's just one distorted string with some tapping but it sounds cool with the acoustic rhythm guitar. :P
Other than that I would probably say Cemetery Gates, or most Van Halen and AC/DC songs.
