Problem

Ok, first of all, my GTA: Vice City game. Everytime I put it in, it will load and everything, and get to the part with Ken Rosenberg running to his office and Tommy is with the car. I will be able to play for about 5 and a half seconds. And after that, the screen freezes and says "Error reading Grand Theft Auto: Vice City disc." Now granted it does have scratches on it, but I've had CDs and games that were worse.

Next, my GTA: San Andreas game. Everytime I put it in, it will goto the loading screen, where it toggles between different characters in the game, while the loading bar at the bottom fills. But as soon as it does that, a black screen comes up with "Error reading Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas disc." Alright it has some scatches too, but it's not even as bad as the Vice City disc.

So today I found a disc cleaner set, that had cleaning solution and some odd little box that you put your cd into, and turn a dial which spins the cd around, and the dial spins also somehow cleaning the cd...
Well I tried both of them again except this time, the Vice City froze as Ken was running towards the office (where as usually I do get to play for about 5 or 6 seconds) and with the San Andreas the same thing happened as usual.

I've tried the toothpaste thing on both CD's I think. I don't really know what else I can do, but I've heard about buffing the scratches out of CDs...
So if anyone has any idea that will help, or any knowledge on buffing the scratches out, it would be greatly appreciated.

scratches, huh? there's this thing i heard about long ago and saw it on tv. It kind of cuts layers of the cd so everything's at the same level and so the scratches are gone. You should try this. After that, the cds should work properly. I hope i didn't confuse you lol

I believe you should search on the internet for anti scratch things. As i said, I saw it some time ago and I can't even remember the name. I have no idea of how expensive it is, but it sounds like a really good idea. Like i said, it cuts layers of the cd so it is at the same level. It is frequently used on audio cds, but i've heard its really good on games as well. All i can tell you is to look for it and buy, sorry, i don't know more, I wish i could help a bit more. Anyway, I believe it should be kind of easier to find it now that you know what it does. Perhpas they'd have it on audio stores or something like that. I hope that helped.

Well I found out what it was. "Disc read errors." Sony has shitty lasers, and in many of the PS2s there is a bug, DREs. Disc read errors. I looked it up and thought I knew how to fix it, so I opened up my PS2 now making it where it won't even load games. No problem. I'm going to family video, renting a ps2 and renting the 2 games. Trading my ps2 and the 2 games, taking it back and telling them for some reason there PS2 isn't working. Ask for my money back and tell them I will just take my business elsewhere. Or something along those lines.
