do you listen to LP more or less since collision course was released?,

i personally dont listen to them as much as i used to, i still like them but i am more into metal than hip hop and ever since collision course was released i seem to listen to them less and less often.

also they have more side projects than albums at the moment, and it will be a while untill their next studio album is released, and with side projects like collision course and mikes solo album it doesent exactly help them in their progress of getting their new album made.

i really think they need to get a grip and simply just make a new studio album, or soon they will loose me as a fan for good, and many other fans

whats your opinion?

kinda hard for me to say.... i am a dj, so i kinda listen to everything. i like how collision course was done, but i don't think it should have blown into a major release like it did....ANYWHO, to answer your question, YES i still linkin park, and YES, they still rock!

I listen more I don't like all the pure rock stuff so it's better they go back the hip hop/rock thing where they came from .I hope they keep up the good work,, kinda pity that they didn't make new songs with jay in place of mash-ups

Oh man, memories. Linkin Park used to be my favorite band. I loved them. Before LP I was into Eminem and lots of other rap, and some country and shit. Then I saw Crawling on MTV, and bought there album, and they became my favorite band. Then it had been a while and I was ready for Meteora to come out, and because of all the hype, for the first 2 weeks I loved Meteora. Then out of nowhere, hated it. I didn't mind Reanimation that much, but I wanted new music, completely new, original music. Ever since meteora I have listened to them less and less. And even though I still like them, and I still support them as a fan, I am nowhere near the fan I used to be.

I'm still a loyal fan. Collision Course wasn't the best thing in place of a new album but since then they've been involved in charity work and now Mike is doing his solo album so it will take a lot more than a long delay between albums to make me think any less of them. I'm just looking forward to the new Fort Minor project and I'm sure the band will put out something great again hopefully next year.

Except that they don't.

1) LP was in the rap scene before CC, and 2) With Mike working on his Solo album, it's KINDA hard to go on tour, and those rumours have been squashed.

Good job.

I'm getting more and more into LP as time progresses, I mean...there's been times where I listen to other things more, but I can't stop coming back to LP. All of their songs sound SO familiar to me now, and thats one of the drawbacks...I've seen and heard and read really everything I can about LP, and I think I really connect with them, which for some reason makes their music seem a little less mature to me. I don't know why, but thats just how I feel. Hopefully they keep making new stuff that I can listen to...but as I get tired of hearing the same songs over and over, if they don't hurry, they might lose me.

I used to only listen to Linkin Park a year ago; they were like the first band/'popular' music that i got into. Maybe because I wasn't exposed to shit at all.

Now, my taste has really expanded, and I like and listen to nearly all genres.

Yes, I still like Linkin Park; they're like the only band that i have never gotten sick of.

I will always love Linkin, but I mean not if they continue rap and hip-hop. I hate rap, and pretty much all hip-hop, but sometimes I don't mind it like High Voltage and Step Up. Other then that, I hate it. Anyway, Collision Course was probably the worst CD LP's every created, and I really hope there next albums are rappish, besides Mike's gay Album. I hated Collsion Course because it took away LP"s songs. I mean, Numb Encore basically turned into a rap song while Numb is an emotional rock song, which is why I like it. Faint/Jigga What, was tollerable for me, but the rest sucked! Especially Izzo/In The End, which was horrible. In the end isn't supposed to be a happy rap song. But whatever, I suppose people will try and argue with me about how this is a great CD. When I hear ''Linkin Park'', I think Hybrid Theory EP, Hybrid Theory, or Meteora.

Okey back to me!

Sorry forgot to also quote this Geki. I agree that Numb IS a emotional ROCK song and Encore totaly ruied that rep.. now is sounds like another reused rap song.. Collsion was the most wost LP album is did take away all the talent that lp put in thier songs. the orginal song's i know we all love.. Gay-z suxs... when i listern to cc i was so angered by jay-z.. so i got the CD i just bourght and though it out the window i was that mad  ! Yes. Not only are we going to track down who threw their LP CDs out the window and ban them, we will make sure that none of their family or friends will ever browse this site again because we don't tolerate throwing CDs out the window or anyone related to a CD thrower.

Throwing CD's out a window...what a waste of time...

Give it to a friend...I mean...is it really worth it?

But if you want real destruction...throw it up in the air and shoot it with a 12 Gage.

But that's just a suggestion. Do whatever you want...

When I first bought and heard [Hybrid Theory], it's was like an epiphany, I mean, I just felt like the fucking skies opened up, you know? It changed my life.

Then, Reanimation comes out on my birthday, and, while it takes a few times of listening to it, it grows on me at an exponential rate.

All the hype about Meteora starts up, and I get really excited. The first few weeks are pure bliss, my ears are in heaven. Soon, though, it wavers. I stop listening to Meteora for a long while, afraid of what I might think if I pick it up again. Time goes by and I listen to [Hybrid Theory], Reanimation, the Hybrid Theory EP, the LPU year 2 disk, and all that.

Live In Texas comes out, and I fall in love all over again. I'm not normally a fan of live music, but wow. I'd only ever seen them live at the LPU free tour (met and gret them, woot), so I was unsure of what to expect, but it was amazing.

As of now, I'd say I'm still a huge fan. I can't ever forget what they opened up for me. Nowadays, I bounce between my new main squeeze, Mudvayne, and a few others I trust to keep me going (Godsmack, Slipknot, Cold, Tool, Static-X, etc).

Okay something that's been getting me is how so many people complain about the lyrics not matching, or how one song is ruining the other... but listening to it like that is just wrong.

To fully enjoy the musicality and creative genius of the CD, I recommend you do this.

Get Jay-Z's albums, Linkin Park's albums, and Collision Course.

First, listen to Lying From You by LP.
Then listen to Dirt Off Your Shoulder by Jay-Z.

Then listen to the mash-up of it.

Rinse, repeat.

The project is fun because it takes songs you usually wouldn't see together and meshes them into a new animal.

The best way to see how two different songs can be different is Numb and Encore.

That's my 2 cents.

I'm still a huge fan of LP though I wasn't really into "Collision Course" that much because I don't like Jay-Z's music and so it was a bit strange for me... Of course I own that EP/DVD and I listen to it sometimes but I think it was the worst release so far and the original songs are way better. I think some songs lost their mood and message in a way and it's pity that Chester doesn't sing that much at that CD but I accept it and it's okay... I hope that their new album will be more heavy, though... Like their first 2 releases, b/c like I said, I'm not a hip hop fan... ;)

Collision Course was released as an EP (a disc that consists of usually 4-9 songs) and a DVD bundle.

what's EP/DVD?

Sometimes I wonder if you're making all these posts because you just don't know or because you're trying to raise your post count.

The Warner thing: Go read the news section. LP is trying to get out of their contract.

EP/DVD: Put two and two together. Just what is this thread about? ;)

EDIT: And yay for posting at the same time!

I used to be a HARDCORE fan of Linkin Park.. but after the Meteora frenzy began to fade out and I started getting into more screamo/hardcore stuff I just listen to them less and less. Now I only listen if WMP randomly lands on a mp3 or something.

Collision course was linkin parks music with Jay-Z's vocals. In my opinion it was nothing compared to the magic of LP's earklier albums, especially hybrid theory. They were famed as a rock band and they were different due to a small bit of hip hop. But put too much of hip hop and no rock and you lose the image that linkin park worked to build up. Jay-Z's lyrics are self centered especailly 99-problems, while so many songs of linkin park were around general problems and emotions of people, not temselves. You could realte to the singer and lyrics of numb but 99 problems especially the car scene speaks of ego-maniac who thinks that everyone should care how many problems he has. Mr. Jay-Z I might have 9999 problems, but I stand up to them but when I need to be entertained, I like my rock bands not too hip hopped.

I listen to Collision Course once in a blue moon. But Hybrid Theory is the album I listen to the most, out of all the LP albums. I'm really into Lacuna Coil and Ill Nino right now, but I'll get back into LP when they drop a new album.

I know LP use a lot of rock/metal in their albums but you cant ignore the Hip-Hop side of them as well. The band members set out to create a fusion between hip-hop and alternative rock. The Hybrid Theory EP demonstrates this fusion greatly and from there on Hybrid Theory and Meteora started to lean WAY over to the rock side, which is o.k I guess. But for fans like me who dont want full on rock all of the time it was quite annoying. I think its great that the band can experiement and have fun with their hip-hop based albums. I underline fun becuase they dont always have to be serious do they? Life isnt always about pain and feeling alone etc. It seems to me that the hip-hop lovers of LP dont complain nearly as much as the rock lovers when the opposing style takes over for an album.

well, i as a fan, i have no problems with anything they've done (though CC could've done better, i'm happy with it the way it ended up) - as far as being a fan goes, i'm into everything LP is into - from rock to electronic to rap ... all over the musical spectrum. plus, all these underground artists they've worked with have really had their talents come to light - and they're real good, particularly those on "reanimation" which forms the majority.

so if they take on a lot of side projects as they have, i'll respect that too.

in short, i trust LP to do well in anything they do ... particularly since it has been said over and over again that they will not release anything they're not proud of. and although i listen to a hell of a lot more than i used to (i.e. it used to just be LP, lol) i listen to LP a lot too. nothing they've done so far has lead to any disrespect from me.

I will still like Linkin Park, but they are really getting boring. They're only albums are Hybrid Theory and Meteora, the rest is a bunch of remixes. Bands like Three Days Grace, Stutterfly, Breaking Benjamin, and others are way better, and they really never get boring. The thing that messed up LP for me was the remixes. It ruined the meanings to all of LP's songs, except maybe three off of Reanimation. And they try to keep up, so they release crappy solo album's and remixes, do they think some fans want new LP songs?

Minus Xero
09-11-2005, 05:52 AM
I actually think the side projects are so much better. HT and Meteora are a lot of the same, but all the side projects are stretches in creativity that flesh out LP beyond the rap/rock formula.

The only song I didn't like off that album was Izzo/In The End. Too much like Jay-Z's original. But to tell you the truth, I thought the Collision Course was alright, sure they used old songs, but when they're combined they actually work better into something new more than it sounds on paper.

I was mad when I first heard about the album being made, but when I actually heard it, it all made sense, and to tell you the truth Jay-Z was a very appropriate rapper to guest star on an LP album, even though I was never a fan of him previously.

So overall, I'm not mad at all, LP still rules, it's society's perception of the band that's the only problem.

I don't see the logic in being mad at LP for making an album you don't like. Big deal. If they hadn't made all the great stuff before it, we wouldn't be sitting here complaining in the first place. So instead of whining about where they went wrong, lets praise them for where they went right. I'm not going to pretend that I never liked their regular albums just because they do something not so good later on. That's just stupid.

When you look at what LP has done, you can see that they have only made one follow up CD, and thats Meteora. Reanimation and CC are just remixes basically.
With Mike and Chester venturing out to do other things, I think this will help their LP music mature, and we will hear amazing stuff from them.

I listened LP 80% of the time from the release of HT to Meteora. Less than a month into Meteora, I got sick of it cause I thought I was listening to Hybrid Theory all over again. It was all boring and repetitive sounding... with BTH being an exception. After that, I sold my LP CDs along with Limp Bizkit, Korn, Staind, etc. But of course, I still consider LP a part of my life since I listened to them for so long eventhough I don't like them nearly as much as I used to.

I don't listen to LP as much as I used to, and yeah since CC but I don't think it's because of that! I think I've heard the songs so many times and know them so well I'd be able to just listen to them in my head, know what I mean? :P

I think I have lost my taste in them alot since CC, but it wasn't CC that made made me stop enjoying them. I'm sure once I hear them come out with a new album with the band all together I could start enjoying them again. Not that I mind them doing side projects, I'm just not interested in them that's all.

They are still my favorite band, but I think the success of Hybrid Theory changed them.

I love bootlegs, but I rarely download anything after Meteora was released simply because they aren't as energetic and/or entertaining to me. It's the bands career and they should do whatever they feel like, but they lost the respect of their true fans a long time ago. They'll learn this when the teenies lose interest.

lp? ofcourse im still a fan. i still listen to other good artists, and i find myself falling into the beastie boys trap. i only have 4 songs but....:mike: im still rockin!!
jayz did an OKAY job with the collision course album, it was mostly mixin up the tapes, finding different samples from 6 songs and meshing them together. I actualy was messing around with a green day song, and i made this weird techno version of american idiot.
okay... im getting of the subject!!
anyway, lp kind of lost the hard rock effect after reanimation & collision course. it's like they liked mixing tapes and creating remixs more than making original songs!!

Okay, now I'm just blabbering.

I personally love Collision Course. I like every song on the album, but I don't care much for Big Pimpin'/Papercut. So yes, I'm still a huge fan of LP. People who aren't just because they mashed with Jay-Z, is an idiot. Get over the whole ''I hate rap'' thing, because LP has always been part Hip-Hop.

Insomnia
04-19-2006, 08:52 AM
i love whatever has the lp sound and although the collision course wasn't so lp
it was a realy nice project even i don't like so much hip hop music. maybe the next project will be more metal than hip hop but that doesn't mean that the hip hop lp-fans will stop love them...
if you are real lp fans stop judging them for their choice cause they re still lp.
also it was a project with Jay-Z, what could they do apart from "more hip hop"?
Jay isn't a metal singer so he couldn't scream to make the project "more metal". The next time, sent a list with the artists that can make a lp project more metal and stop whining that lp now after all these years turned it to hip hop and they aren't so lp...

I think people who are in to LP for the "In the End" type songs don't like Collison Course. I love CC because it's more "High Voltage" type songs if you get where I am going. It exposed the more hip-hop side of LP and also Mike's skills has a producer. If it wasn't for CC, we wouldn't have Fort Minor, which is also a great project. Mike is now into the rap scene mroe than ever and that's thanks to CC.

And remember, Jay picked LP, which says something doesn't it? So yes, I am still a fan of LP.

It's good that LP tried something different with CC and with the help of Jay, LP is more fixed in the Hip-Hop Scene, and it also helped Mike with his side project Fort Minor. I like bands who like to do experimental things and other styles, so I'm still a fan of Linkin Park.

i always listen to them whenever i get the chance. i hope that they make a new album because they're close to losing me as a fan. if you really think about it, they haven't made any original music since meteora. i think of collision course as old music becasue it's just remixed tracks really.

06-24-2006, 10:59 AM

I agree. I mean the music is interesting but is the subject matter the same. I doesn't even really make sense.

I used to listen to LP albums, especially Hybrid Theory and Collision Course... Those are the only albums that I have... I also have a Fort Minor CD. I don't like three tracks on that solo album of Shin's... I slightly hate hiphop because most of the singers used to put some unpleasant words in their composition but what do I like most in hiphop is the beats, nothing else... I admit, I'm a die hard fan of LP, especially of Mike Shinoda... But what I don't like is Shin is having another project without his band at his back... Actually, I almost cried when I heard his song "Get Me Gone" not only because that's really what happened to him but also I want to tell him that if the people want him to be gone on LP, and his friends are there to have his back and why is he doing such another album? So that means he almost leave his band behind... The band that I supported a lot??? But whatever happens I'll be a Linkin Park fan!!! LINKIN PARK RULEZ!!! LINKIN PARK ROCKZ!!! --makaxero_lpaddict:mike:

Hmmm...that's a tough question. I'm still into Linkin Park, but they're just not my favourite band anymore, like they used to be. HOWEVER, after listening to LP for a while, I started getting into more....mature (???) bands (as in heavier). So in a way, you could say that they introduced me to the music I'm into now. I still listen to their albums (mainly HT) regularly (at least once a week), so for these reasons I'm definitely going to buy their new album. For nostalgia, you could say. (here's hoping it's as good/better than Hybrid Theory).

I mean, I was only in grade 2 when Linkin Park first released HT and back then I didn't really appreciate music. Now its like I'm listening to everything I missed out on. I agree with you... I listen to other bands but there's nothing like Linkin Park.
Linkin Park is my only and favorite band! I'm HUGE fan!! :D
Probably because I can relate to them in plenty much everything since their songs are based on real stuff that happens to everybody every single day, and their melodies get stuck in your head easily.

With a really powerful singer (Chester) and an awesome Rapper (Mike), with a talented Dj (Joe), with such an adorable drummer and he rocks btw (Rob), and an excellent/funny guitarist (Brad), and, of course, the friendly bass guitar player (Phoenix), why shouldn't they be my favorite band???
They are just real and know what they are talking about in their songs.

When I feel like I'm down or something real bad just happened to me, the first thing I do is turn on my Ipod and listen to LP... I listen to LP 24/7 if you ask me.

Just like Mini_girl_LP said: "Linkin Park is my system support" for plenty much everything.
