View Full Version : Three demo questions

I'm not new when it comes to LP demos, but I ask these questions to gain more knowledge about these demos :D Hope anyone could answer these questions:

1. Was the And One demo released through the old hybridtheory.com or came in samplers?

2. I saw the demo lyrics for Part Of Me demo at forfeitthegame.com and it says "Part Of Me - 12:41". But isn't that the same length as the original HTEP Part Of Me? Or it is just a mistype error or something? Does it have Ambient too (lol)?

3. What's the difference between the Super Xero demo one and Super Xero demo two?

Thanx in advance

1. There was no And One demo that we know of.

2. FTG.com may be wrong. They are as far as I know.

3. Different lyrics.

First of all, thanx for answering.. Regarding the And One demo, I saw "And One (demo)" at the FTG.com Complete Song List, I also have doubts about its existence, that's why I asked :P

Okay, part of me isnt a demo, and the reason for it to be 12:41 is that if you go to 10:03 of the song, secret (another song) will come. it is just a mistake in hybrid theory EP if you download it the wrong place.

Yes, we know. But there is also a demo of Part of Me.

There are two Part Of Me versions:

1. Part Of Me (Demo)
2. Part Of Me (HTEP Version with Ambient/Secret) ;)

About Ambient/Secret, yes I already know about it :P

to my knowledge there are a few different types of the Part Of Me

1. Part Of Me - the one found on the EP with Ambient 12 to 13 mins long
2. Part Of Me - with a cut version of the one above 10 mins long
3. Part Of Me - just the song no extra intrumental or digital sound
4. Part Of Me - the demo (different lyrics)

But these ones are just cut-off/edited versions from the original song right?

That's what I thought.

I only knew there were two versions:
Part of Me - HT EP
Part of Me Demo.
I thought the Demo was cut off and all, but I guess someone just edited it.

Never heard of 3 or 4 anywhere.

There's just 2 versions of Part of Me, the version on HTEP is 12:43 long. I've seen other versions that were 10:00, 7:27, 6:45, etc., they're just from people cutting out various lengths of the buzzing between Part of Me and the hidden track. As for the demo, it sounds like the buzzing was supposed to continue, but it was cut off. I've never seen the demo with anything after it, so I guess the band just cut it there.

The And One demo is a big question mark. There was a 9 track demo CD that was pressed prior to Hybrid Theory's release which had the following tracks:

The Untitled
Points of Authority (Demo, the one with Sink or Swim in it)
Super Xero
Crawling (Demo)
Carousel (Demo)
Part of Me (Demo)
And One
Rhinestone (Yes, the one with Chester)
Esaul

Now it was a "demo" CD, which raised questions as to whether the And One on it was a demo or just the EP version. The Carousel and Part of Me demos were apparently actually recorded after the EP's release, as demos for the Hybrid Theory album that didn't make the cut. However, And One on this CD sounded exactly the same as the EP version. It's probably not a demo, but if it is, it's another Now I See/Plaster type thing where they sound pretty much identical.

And Super Xero, there's just 3 slightly different demos of it that were released at various stages, they all sound more or less the same with some small lyrical and musical differences between them, the same way Esaul is.

And One was on the Hybrid Theory demo disc. It was the same as the HT:EP version I believe, but was a little clearer.

Meh, it could have been fake, I never saw one on any auction site until after Simon (Energy) got a hold of one and posted the tracks/case scans on a small sub-site of his website. Then within like a week about 2 or 3 popped up on Ebay, so they might have been fakes.

Nope, its real. The songs are the same demos you might have all heard, but MUCH better quality.

Well i know the actual CD is real, I'm just saying it's suspicious that I never saw any on Ebay until after Energy posted the high-quality songs and the scan of the CD case front. Then all of a sudden like 3 or 4 popped up, makes me wonder if people were just burning them to CD-Rs and sticking them in a plastic case and using the scan Energy had to make it look like the real thing and selling it on Ebay. There's actually one for sale right now...I may bid on it to find out for myself if it's a real one or not, but I have to pray the price doesn't shoot too high.

I've seen that one for sale too, that was the one I was talking about earlier, and I thought it was fake because of the cover (compared to Hybrid Theory's other demo CD, it sucks).
I'm thinking that one may be real, but maybe not, because the pic in the auction with the cover is kinda blurry and I can't read anything there...and it's still $10  .

Well a lot of Warner's official promos come in generic cases like that, so it could be real.

Um, that's the Hybrid Theory EP, this is something totally different.

Let me explain the story behind that CD.
There's 2 copies of it that have appeared on ebay before the tracks were ripped by energy. One appeared before 2002, and it's where we have a lot of the demos that weren't released through hybridtheory.com.
The other one appeared a week or so before energy re-ripped the tracks. We were desperatley trying to authenticate the CD, and energy asked the seller for a CDR copy of the disc (which arrived after the auction ended). Then he ripped the demos, and made his page based on the front insert of the CD. We found that CD to be genuine.

Then the 2 or 3 that appeared after energy's rip were just burnt copies by an idiot LPU member, TheOutsider/krwlng89, who constantly tries to rip people off by selling things he doesn't have.

The one thats on now could be real, but I think it's highly suspicous that it's using the same images as the one energy got a burnt copy of. There should only be a maximum of 10, and for 2 to have exactly the same 'corrections', and writing on the front would be improbable.

He's a guy that collects a lot of LP stuff, especially promo CDs and the like, he has more than anyone else. He runs LPFuse but that site hasn't been up in a long time...

If it's the front cover from the burned CD (not the real one) that's in the auction, then I guess it was fake.

I might of phrased that wrong...
What I mean is, the CD that was just on ebay (it's no longer there...) had the same handwriting on the front insert of the disc as the last copy that was sold had, the one energy got a burnt copy of.
