View Full Version : Fred Durst: "I'm Not A Poser"
Doctor Manhattan

LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"Happy new beginnings to the [LIMP BIZKIT] army. A reality check for the posers is what 2005 has in store. Fuck them all.
"When I say posers, I don't exactly mean haters. We are all haters in some form and display this at some point in our lives.
"Posers, to me, are people who are doing things in their lives, specifically making music for the masses without it being honest and consisting of what they are truly about inside themselves, but more like a half-assed attempt to create a formula that displays their true colors aren't so true.
"Quality of music or the success of a band does not determine whether someone is a poser to me personally. It's when you know in your heart that someone's shit is as phony as a fucking three-dollar bill.
"Regardless of being liked or disliked, even hated, I can sleep at night knowing I've always been true to what I feel inside and have never gave a shit about what anyone thinks about it. I'm on my own path and have stayed true to my heart my whole existence. I also don't believe someone is a poser when they have an identity crisis and are only trying to find their way to get to the next level of their life.
"But this is all my perspective and I am an individual with my own views and perceptions. So don't confuse what I am saying and think my revenge has anything to do with haters and those who don't understand LIMP BIZKIT and myself.
"I told you I think it's cool to be a hater because I happen to be one myself. Clarity is on my side right now and remember, beauty is through the eye of the beholder.
"It's on.".
lolol.

Did Fred Durst create Nu Metal though? No. So he is a poser somehow.
Doctor Manhattan
01-04-2005, 10:58 PM
Maybe he didn't create nu-metal, but his band was certainly a factor in making nu-metal popular in the late 90s.
And besides, Fred Durst introduced the world to Puddle Of Mudd and Staind. That's reason enough for me to hate Mr. Durst until Armageddon happens, and then some.
Also, didn't Fred help get Korn in the business, or is it the other way around?
Chris Luke

Limp Bizkit never got Korn the deal with Epic/Immortial.

Nah, thinking about it now, I think Korn got Fred into the business or something.

No one knew about Limp Bizkit until Rollin', Nookie, Rearranged was releasied. Also Korn had Fred on All In The Family. Which was on Follow The Leader which was relased in 1998. Korn's first MTV single was in 1996 (Right around the time Limp Bizkits was making Three Dollar Bill Ya'll). And so I'm not sticking with Korn here, I'll use The Deftones. Adrenilne was released in 1995.

Did I just dream up Break Stuff, Nookie & Rearranged?

No, actually, I don't.
Limp Bizkit blew up when "Nookie" was released. I remember the video getting heavy rotation on MTV and on the radio.

I have a question. Whats with Fred Durst and Three Dollar Bills. Does he have like a conterfiet ring where he makes Three Dollar Bills with his face on it.

I think your jealous and narrow-minded.
I don't have an ever-lasting hate for Fred Durst that some of you carry on your shoulders because I understand that over half of what he says or does is just to grab attention. I don't think he even knows what type of personality he has.

I was one of the biggest Limp fans...ever! But as soon as Fred Durst tried to be Mr. Egotistical, the band started sucking! Trust me, when your own client (Wes from Puddle of Mudd) calls you pathetic...you got problems!

He called him pathetic because Fred got his assistent to ring him up and say good work on the new CD (life on display) and he didn't do it himself. Or atleast it's what I've heard.

I know, that's what I'm referencing here! I'm surprised Fred didnt fire them  But then again, they're bringing in the money for him!
Plus did they have to put his face on the cover of LID? It's like when Fred ruined the live version of "Outside"
I've never liked Limp Bizkit.
I honestly don't care whether Fred Durst is a poser or not, because it's not gonna make a difference to me.
Besides, what's a poser anyway? I've never been too clear on that topic. I'm probably just a poser myself and don't know it.

n 1: a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not
I'm not a Limp Bizkit fan (actually, I really can't even stand them, but whatever floats your boat, as the saying goes...), but the fact that you made this topic just to make fun of Fred Durst shows how interested you actually are in him. If you don't like him, why bother giving him publicity or try to sound "cool" by bashing him? If you don't like him, he shouldn't even be worth talking about. Just a thought. :)
As far as I'm concerned, you can make a thread about anything that doesn't break a rule for discussion, whether you like the person the topic is about or not. Forums are for discussion, not just making topics to be a kiss-ass for the thread subject. ;)
True, but I was just stating my opinion on the matter -- if you don't like a band, show that they're not worth your time by not even bothering with them. You're only giving them more publicity than they already have (not that anyone's a massive, multi-national news relay or anything, but word of mouth is still word of mouth; no news is bad news, bad news is still news).

Oh, I'm very interested in Fred Durst.
I think it's amazing how he started out as one of the figureheads for MTV in the late 90s, and basically held the nu-metal mini-era in the palms of his hands for awhile, then just fell off the face of the planet.
When the Chococlate Starfish was released, his group started to go down-hill. Fanboys and the like can say whatever, but if you compare $3 Bill or Significant Other to Chocolate Starfish, it's complete and utter shit. Wes Borland left the band, and then I just totally lost all intrest.
Then came Results May Vary. Why people shit on this album, I'll never understand. Maybe because I wasn't expecting anything awesome, I was completely blown away. The Fred Durst of the old is gone, he doesn't talk about cars and nookie and rollin' and shit. He shows a side that he hasn't really showed before, that being the emotional one. It's a tad angsty sometimes, yeah. But oh well.
Just as soon as I'm feeling alittle better about Limpbizkit, Eat You Alive is dropped as a single, his little feud with Britney Spears happens (and he acts like a complete moron on The Howard Stern Show, sounding like a bragging jock type).
My problem with Fred Durst is that he complains way to much now. If he wasn't a poser, then why even take the time to write this on his website? Sure, it might get on his nerves, but as long as he knows he's not, then I figure he has nothing to prove. But I guess Mr. Durst feels he does have something to prove, that being he's not a poser.
I think he is one. No doubt he is anger, but some stuff... I just can't take it. I said I liked the emotional stuff, the more serious type songs, but... I have a really hard time believing he feels that way. I think he wrote that shit to save his ass and keep people on the LB Bandwagon. No doubt if they would have kept writing stinkers such as Rollin' and Nookie, they'd be popular, but they'd lose some fans I'm sure.
All in all, Fred Durst is a poser, in my opinion, because I don't believe he feels what he says he does in some songs. He poses on the tracks. Therefore, he is a poser.
Want to rip this apart? Okay.
Have fun. :)

Well Said
And just to clear things up about Fred becoming mature and stuff,he takes anger management so maybe thats why.
Chocolate Starfish was defenatly Limp Bizkit's strongest album,it's not that I don't like Results May Vary its just that they've broken away from their style and the need to get it back, maybe their new album will shock us all and will get another No.1 Single
