Good *free* online RPG games

Ok, does anyone here know of any good RPG's online that i could play without having to pay? Or is this one the most stupid questions known to man?

I just get so mind numbingly bored sitting my ass online day in day out with nothing to do. There are hardly any games out that i want on the consoles currently so i keep trying hard to occupy myself while i am online with no such success.

So yeah, i need some help here guys. Pleas though, no runescape.

The Edge of Darkness

Its a Mud (Multi User Dungeon) text based RPG game. Playable through telnet, but a mud client is highly recommended. ZMud is basically what everyone uses to play/connect.

Today (In game) I was making out with this doctor for fun and her boyfriend got pissed at me so I backhanded him in the face and he punched me in the face and knocked me unconcious. Then his doctor girlfriend (wife in real life) helped me back onto my feet. (just a rough Idea of how realistic this game is.

You could try a Ragnarok Online private server. Unlike the actual RO, it's completely free and run by fans of the game. There are bunches, but one in particular caught my interest because of the song used for this intro, check it out: http://crono67.com/pzro/

Yeah you do. It's like, you download the updater, open the updater, it should install, the run the prog that it installs. It should start downloading the actual game and then press 'Start' when it reaches 100%.

You can download the game I used to play. Ultima Online. Usually youd have to pay $12 a month for it, but people all over the internet have created their own servers where people play for free. Theyre usually more challenging but fun, and well, free.

Keep to the topic of "Good *free* online RPG games" please. Enough about games that you have to pay for, if he wanted one of those, he would have asked for it. He's not, so there. Some of us can't AFFORD a game like Galaxies, and look into some free games. Let's keep the discussion on that, please.

I play this side-scroller RPG type thing called Maple Story. It can be pretty addictive.

Yeah i've done that and it says it's in the wrong folder or something. It's run up to 100% and all that but i press starts and it comes up witht that error message and closes down

I tried the links for the other 2 files and one of them doesnt work and the other one is in japanese...

Was it the kRO one that didn't work? Yeah they're in korean, so it may be a bit tricky to install them, but once you run the updater after having both installed it's all in english.

Can't find alternate downloads, but you could google it...

Basically the biggest problem will be clicking the correct buttons once the installer starts. For the most part, the correct buttons will be very slightly shaded around the edges.

Then, once they are both installed into a folder. Run each of thier own patchers until they complete. Then the private server Updater after that. It seems like a lot, but I've had to do it several times (whether it be getting a new computer, or helping my moron friends do it).


Update: If you really, really must have it, I've zipped mine, so message me on MSN ifyou wan't me to send it to you (make take a few years to transfer, though).

Nate is simply voicing his OPINION about the game you are talking about. At no point has he ever tried to influence peoples opinions on whether to play it or not. It's only a game. I know these really aren't RPGs but they're online, free and fun to play...

Some good ones are the adventure ones like on ebaumsworld called 'Trapped In A Room' or something like that. Little interactive flash things where you need to solve puzzles to move on. Very addicting and challenging.

I found a couple things that seemed interesting but I haven't really tried any of them yet.. so I suggest you just give em a shot, maybe you'll like it you never know. I don't know which one's are free and which aren't though so.. try to look it up on the site I guess first.


Two kingdoms (http://www.twokingdoms.com/) - Don't really know much about this one..

Exile (http://66.195.241.40/exile/default.asp) - This is the only one I actually did play so far. It's definently free, and it's really really fun. Not to mention extremely easy to register, there's no stupid confirmation email needed so you get to start playing right away.

Spy Academy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/spooks/games/index.shtml) - This game looks damn awsome if you ask me.. I haven't tried it yet but it looks challenging.

Banja (http://www.banja.com/) - This looks interesting to me as well.. The description said you can play with online players and interact with other people and go to different towns and stuff. Haven't tried that one yet either though so i'm not sure if it's free or not..
