ICS Calendar File Now Available
I've taken the liberty of adding all of the CD release dates to an ICS calendar file, compatible with OSX's iCal and Sunbird, from the same people that make Firefox. You can import this file into either one of those programs and view release dates in a nice calendar format and sync them to a cell phone, PDA or iPod with a program that supports it (OSX users can use iSync to sync to an iPod and most PDAs and cell phones)

Click here for detailed instructions for using the ICS file (http://www.lpassociation.com/ics/)

The list below will still be updated as well for those of you who don't wish to use the calendar, plus, TBA dates aren't in the ICS file.

-Todd
---------------------------------------------

This list will be updated often with additional releases, changed/moved release dates, and more. Feel free to help by posting any information regarding new releases. I'll delete your post after I've updated the list so the thread won't get too cluttered and we can have some nice discussion in here.

I wouldn't put Frances The Mute for a March 1st release, seeing as how: 1) It was reported on The PRP, who are known to get their shit wrong, and 2) It's not on any Mars Volta board, nor the official site.

Yeah. Don't put the NIN CD on March anytime soon either, since it could be pushed back, knowing Reznor, plus he's only speculated a March release date, no official date.

Anything goes, in my opinion. Nothing too obscure or out there, (I don't know if anyone here listens to jazz or folk) but if someone posts the title and date, I'll put it in. If the members feel it's relevant, it's relevant and I'll put it in here.

Edits made and a TBD section was made for the albums still in question.

Hm, I dunno when the next Dream Theater album is gonna drop, but I suspect they are recording by now (they started writing in November). It took them 3 weeks to write ToT, I hope they take a bit more time, as kick ass as that album was!

For those who will hate LPA and bomb it to death because they live International and LPA didn't post the correct release date.

Coinciding with the album's release is that of the self-titled single, a one-track, 15-minute 12" which serves as a "decoder" for the remainder of the album. To clarify, the title track of the album is, in fact, not actually on the album.

Add in The Mars Volta "The Mars Volta" single. It's a song that's not on the Frances The Mute CD, so I think it should be on the list as a CD as well. It'll be released as Vinyl and CD, too.

So, yeah. March 1st for this one track single, too.

EDIT: Frances The Mute should be March 1st too. I already apologized for this once, damnit.

EDIT2: # CD (US): 3/1
# CD (EU): 2/18
# CD (AUS/NZ/SOUTH AMERICA): 2/28
# CD (JPN): 2/7

Straight from the horses mouth. Sorta. I got that from another message board where the head admin is the web designer for The Mars Volta Official Site.

You obviously dont have a clue about rap and what its all about.

Dont forget mike talks to a computer a lot (as far as your definition of rap goes). Then again linkin park does almost construct all of their music in front of a computer.

I actually dont know of any hip hop artists that use a lot of computers, i always thought they didnt even know how to use one lol.

plz dont generalize.

Again, no release date yet, but John Petrucci's solo album "Suspended Animation" is coming out this Spring.

Its a collection of all kinds of stuff he's written and from the stuff that was played when he joined the G3 tour back in '01, its gonna a damn fine piece of work. To me he's always been the best writer in DT, him and Myung.

Fuck, September for new Cold? I thought it was early summer?

If its anything like YOTS, its well worth the wait though
Yeah it was. It was supposed to be out the third week of June, but Scooter wanted to put two more songs on the album that he said would make it "complete", so it's pushed back two-three months.

Judging by the four songs released on the radio, the album should be amazing.

Chali 2na's Fish Outta Water album was set to drop in April, but was held back by his record label for whatever reason. They said it would be delayed, but I can't find any news on it anywhere, that one is still indefinite. I'm still waiting!

11 pages of nothing. One time, I needed to find something in Random Thoughts, and I spent like an entire afternoon going through like 1300 pages.

They are working on it now. It is likely to come out late this year or early next year. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Why?

And yeah, I'd also like this to be updated, my iPod's calendar feature serves me no real purpose now.

I believe the necroposting rule doesn't apply to certain threads, such as stickies.

So actually, I think this thread was such a success, that we should do it next year. Make it a tradition.

Yeah, I agree.

Next year will be big musically for me, I think.

Apparently Nine Inch Nails, Otep, and Lamb of God are coming out with new albums.

And there's large possibilities of new records from Tool, Metallica, and The Mars Volta.
