Lord Of The Rings stars keen to return

The stars of Lord Of The Rings have given director Peter Jackson a promise they'll return for The Hobbit if he is prepared to make it.

Jackson has hinted that he would be interested in adapting the pre-Lord of The Rings story into a movie, and now his Hobbit stars are pushing him to go for it.

Billy Boyd, who played Pippin in the Lord of The Rings films, said: "People want it so much. There was talk of us playing our characters' relatives. I'm sure we'd all make ourselves free for that."

And Jackson would be able to cut down on the on-set costs if his Hobbits returned - they're considering buying a communal property in New Zealand.

Elijah Wood said: "A lot of us are actually thinking about going in on property in New Zealand."

I hope they make it, since I loved the hobbit more than LOTRs.

They'll probably re-use Ian Holm for Bilbo again.

this would be awesome but i remember reading somewhere that the film distribution rights belong to MGM, which would make it harder to distribute...

I think so, too. The only problem is that they'll have to make him look younger, since Ian is old as it is.

Well they could just do what they did for The Fellowship of the Ring. They showed Bilbo in the opening when he found the Ring in Gollum's cave, so they could use that scene again and do the rest of the movie.

I heard a while ago that it wouldn't be possible for them to make a movie because of some copyright issue.

Well that was before they saw the success out of the LotR films. A few months ago the Tolkien family gave the rights to New Line for the movie, but they said they wouldnt want to do it if Peter Jackson didnt want to.
