I was wonder if MTV was involved in the mash up process, since it's called an MTV Mash-up.

It actually might as well have been, since MTV/Viacom owns VH1 now.

What do you mean now? Viacom has always owned VH1.

No they haven't. They've always owned TNN, MTV, etc. It wasn't only until recently that they got VH1, because before that I know they've never done split red carpet pre show garbage.

No shit? I always thought Viacom owned MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon. Well fuck me then. Thanks for the news.

Oh yeah, they own Nick too. Not that it matters, but yeah. That would explain why they showed a Lindsay Lohan video on fucking NOGGIN once.

MTV asked Jay-Z who he wanted to work with, he said Linkin Park, they brought them together. MTV only wanted a concert (which they got), but LP and Jay-Z decided to make an album, so they did a behind-the-scenes footage part of it too. The album was solely produced by Mike Shinoda, MTV just showed the concert.

Didn't you read my post? Let me elaborate then.
MTV "got the idea" to do a mash-up with artists. Jay-Z was first. He chose LP. It was only supposed to be a concert. The artists wanted more. MTV said, "okay, but since it was our idea, you must stick our logo in."

No. It was complete artistic freedom. MTV just wanted to film and show it. And cash in off their popularity.
