The grudge

Am i the only one that was scared of the grudge at the cinema, one of the best horrors in recent years me thinks. God the japanese are messed up in the head

Surprisingly, I thought this movie would be crap. Thought it would be the typical teenie-scaring flick that everyone talks about, but in reality it's lame. Then I saw Sam Raimi's name as the director, I rose my eyebrows a bit (Raimi along with Bruce Campbell directed the Evil Dead series -- My favorite trilogy of all time).

It was fairly scary.

The kid wasn't too disturbing, but this morning, I was shovelling my driveway at like 6:45 before the sun was up, and somehow I thought about the girl's face, and it scared the crap out of me :lol:

I've heard it was very disappointing, and that the original is better.

But then I heard they both suck.

I probably won't watch it, since everytime I see SMG, I think of 'Buffy'.

i saw it.. it was a pretty good movie.. some parts were pretty scary.. i liked saw more.. even tho its a different type of movie..

I, myself, was personally dissapointed. I thought it was basically a copy of 'The Ring' and I honestly thought it was incredibly stupid. It was scary for about ten minutes until I figured out what was going on, and then it was like..wow, I paid money for this?

The first thing i noticed was the similarities between itself and the ring, but personally i think the ring sucked when compared to the grudge.

Can't wait till it goes on DVD...then I'll prob get it that way or watch it on satillite.

I hope you all know thats because "The Grudge" and "The Ring" are both originally Japanese and made by the same people. :lol:

I got a chance to buy the Japanese version (Ju On: The Grudge) and I personally loved it. It is better than the American version, not in effects, but it explains more and the ending doesnt suck. There's also parts they didnt have in the American version. Like he husband who's wife was killed by Toshio in the bed, they killed him off, whereas in Ju On, he was posessed by the original husband and put his wife's body in the attic. They also show the stories of the last living investigator of the original case. The ending is also completely different. Spoiler: Sarah Michelle Gellar's character (named Rika in Ju On) was killed in the house by the ghost of the first husband, the one who caused the curse. She died in the same way as the girl (the one that crawls and clicks), Kayako, died. It turns out that those two ghosts are not the ones doing the killings, its the husbands ghost. Theyre just used as tools.

Needless to say, Ju On is very much better than the American version. Personally I think Ju On is brilliant and I want to order Ju On 2. Supposedly they just either started work or finished work on the American version of that too.

It's pretty good, just it's a little grainy at times.

You dont need to be Japanese to see Ju On. It's in every store I go into that has movies, just look around for it. Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, Wallmart, they all have it. And its dubbed in English so dont worry about language.
