I hate it when I hear a young girl gets pregnant. If you take the responsibility to have sex, then you should take the responsibility to be safe about it. It angers me when I hear about teenagers not being safe and treating sex like it's a game. Speaking from someone who has had sex, I believe you should only have sex if you are truly ready and are aware of the consequences that can happen.
The media does shove sex down our throats as well but I wouldn't blame the media at all. Teenagers should know better and if they do blame the media, they are only looking for excuses for their own actions.

Some good points :hmm:
Exactly. Think of the consequences if you're not using protection. Having a child can ruin your educational future, force you to get a dead-end job to make ends meet, and makes your life alot tougher and stressful. Years of stress for a some moments of pleasure, it depends if you're really that desperate.

I reckon even if you think you're ready to have a child at that age you shouldn't,it just sevearly messes up your life.I knew someone that became a father at just 14! his life with the girl was just messed up sevearly

I think if people are having sex underage, they have to be very careful and make it very safe. If they aren't safe about it, they can't blame anything else for their actions.

I think that if an underage girl gets pregnant, its her own damn fault. In all honesty, its stupid to throw away your future for 15 minutes of fun.

Teenager + pregnancy = irresponsibility. Need I say more?

i remember a few years back there was someone who became pregnant in my secondary school [or high school as some would call it] and she was told to LEAVE the school.
as much as i'm against teenage pregnancy, i thought that this was going too far. i mean, i believe that everyone should be given an opportunity to complete their education regardless of what is happening around them.
just my $0.02 worth. ^_^

Teen pergnancy is very wrong in my opinion. There was a girl in my tutor group at school last year and she got pregnant (she was either 13 or 14) and she got taken out of school for the whole time. She actualy had the baby but had it adopted. I can't see why any young girl would want to put themseleves through something like that. I know i would never do that. I wouldn't want to put myself through the trauma of it all. When i hear about young girls getting pregnant as young as 12 i just don't know what to think

I don't know whether I should say this but my GF got pregnant last year.I guess My gf and I got carried away.Anyway I feel bad about it more so because i am a devout Catholic and the church doesn't allow sex outside marrige and I ended an innnocent unborn human's life.I hope you guys do not isolate me for that.I am really very sorry for my stupid act :(
The number of teenage pregnancies I hear about each year just seems to grow and grow. Society just seems to ignore it. I think governments schools, and communities need to set up compulsory programs that educate teenages about the dangers of sex. My school does but I and other students think that they do it too late (Year 10, 16 years old) because the sad reality is that lots of teenages will have already done it. I know its also their responibilty but its amazing too see how ignorant and irresponsible some teens are about sex. They need to be educated on it.

If you look for some of the old abortion threads, you'll see that this is one of the last places you'll need to apologize for that. ;)

It's not that the UK has a limited Sex Education curriculum - because that's not that case.
To me, it's what a lot of people have already echoed: irresponsability on the two person's parts.
However there are exceptions, such as in the cases of rape, but that discussion is for another day.
I first had sex at 18 believe it or not. I was with Jon for well over a year at that point. Sure we had little bits of 'tomfoolery' (as a few of us call it :P) but there was always some sort of line that we both respected until we thought we were ready
Typical rambling over..
Go out and have sex whenever you feel you're ready. No-one can stop you. Though just make sure you know exactly what's what, I guess.
Don't be a dickhead, to put it bluntly.

I'm sorry you had to go through that  . Thats some pretty tough stuff.
I got my ex pregnant at a drunken part, after about half a year of going out, she took a pregnancy test soon after and it was positive, but she kept getting stomach pains and took another, and she had lost it, a shame, but also very lucky in a way as we were only 15

Uh, having sex when you're under 18 (or whatever the legal age is) is underage sex. Duh.

I think Neil's right. Someone over 18 cannot have sex with someone under 18 (statutory rape), but two people under 18 can.

Well, there is no illegal age to have sex. There is no law not permitting it. The only illegal thing is when an adult (18+) and a "minor" (18-) have sex. Two minors having sex have no laws restricting it. Eighteen is just when they consider the boundary of an adult and minor to be drawn, just like in court cases when being tried as an adult or minor, but eighteen is not a legal limit for teens to have sex, though. We had some guest speaker talk to us about teen sex this year and its consequences, and that's what the guy said.

There is still a legal age for sex after that. I know in Alberta, if oyu are 18 it is still legal to have sex with a 14 year old. Any younger then it is illegal.

there are A LOT of ppl out there that dont really understand the whole how you get pregnant thing. and most of those ppl are the ones who get pregnant or the ones who get other ppl pregnant. so i think there needs to be WAY more sex ed in school. girls have to be taught about thier firtility! it is amamzing what girls dont know. they dont even know that sperm stays viable w/n a girl for 3-4 DAYS after sex. and there are only particular times of the month when a girl is firtle. no one seems to know that stuff.
i had unprotected sex w/ my bf for 8 months(i know that is incredibly dumb! but at least i didnt get pregnant!) i kept track of what went on, so i was more careful than i could have been. but i now have a friend w/ benefits and i never have unprotected w/ him. im more careful now. but back then i was all swept up in the romance. he said he loved me more than anyone and that he wanted to have kids and stuff. and he didnt want to use a condom, so i didnt really push it. so many girls are like that, it is almost like they are brainwashed or something. then of course sometimes you get wrapped up in the moment.
and no, i dont think that it is all the girls fault! it is just as much or more the fault of the male! get it strait!
and i think there would be a hell of a lot less teen pregnancy if birth control was mroe readily available and there was a lot more education in school. as i said b4, i ton of these pregnacies are b/c of ignorance

well...it happens, not that i agree with it...but i think abortion is the stupidest thing ever. why should people be allowed to murder and unborn child for their stupidity?
why should young girls risk their health over an unwanted child? teenage girls' bodies arent developed enough and are at high risk of complications.
people Should Just Have to Be Safe Coming to Sex I mean I AM.

This topic concerns me not only because of my friends dealing with their pregnancy scares, but for me as well, a tenager in high school dealing with the so-called "peer-pressure". There really isn't any peer-pressure at my school to do anything. If there is, the only pressure is to wear Red and Black on Spirit Days. That's about it. If someone offers you a joint they don't care if you say no, and same with sex. Personally, I've had my experience with being asked about sex, and I am actually planning on doing it with someone. I know the risks and I know what could happen, but as long as you protect yourself, that's all that matters. The careless kids, that's what people think about. But really, alot of the kids realize that could happen and they aren't as careless as people think.
I think if the person feels they are physically and emotionally ready to do something like that and realize the consequences, then I don't care. It's their life. What we think of their life has no affect on them whatsoever.
Be safe, and really...have fun :teehee:
