I used to hate Xbox, but it owns the GameCube and the PlayStation 2. Sure, the PS2 has a bigger game library, but Xbox is just better. At least, I think so, anyway.

If you get it, get the limited edition Xbox/Halo bundle. For only $20 more than the original Xbox, you get a really cool, clear-green Halo Xbox and controller, as well as the game itself.

Xbox does have better graphics and everything, but I would recommend getting a PS2 for one reason; Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which comes out in October.

My friend has an Xbox and he loves it, so if you're not keet on the GTA series, go for it!

Is it true the Xbox now has smaller controllers? I hate their big ones, I cant reach the buttons.

yeah, they Have Controller S (small)

It it still no where near as comfortable as the ps2 controller. The original xbox controller was a joke though, way too big and clunky

Knowing Rockstar, they will probably put it out on Xbox just like they did with GTA3 and VC after the exclusivity contract is over.

On-Topic : It's definately worth it. I would recommend getting the Halo/Xbox bundle like Will said. Also, if you have money, get Xbox Live.

To put it bluntly: no.

I'm not an XBox fan, myself. I find it the weakest of the three consoles, personally, just because of the lack of good exclusives. You get to Halo 2 (since Halo is out on PC) and the Project Gotham series and that's pretty much all I'm insterested in, in terms of good exclusive games.

The XBox may have the best graphics, but it doesn't really matter if no games really take advantage of it. Metroid Prime easily looks just as good as Halo does, and it's on an "inferior" system, at least hardware-wise. I have yet to see many games besides Halo and Chronicles Of Riddick take advantage of the XBox's processing power (since the graphics chip is roughly equivalent to the GameCube's, in my opinion... it's the whole nVidia versus ATI debate there).

The thing I don't like about the XBox is the games... the system itself is great. But the games are what get me. 90% of the games on XBox you can play on either PS2 or GameCube, or both. And chances are if it's not on that it's either on PC or it's a game in the Project Gotham series or it's Halo 2 (at least when it comes out).

The PS2 has almost every multi-platform game (which is a crapload) and the GameCube has an amazing list of exclusives (which I can post, if you want).

I'd say if you have a GameCube and can play PS2 at a friends house, then save your money for the next generation of consoles, which should either begin next year or 2006... rumor is Microsoft wants to get the jump and have a console out in 2005, so you'd be wasting your money to get the XBox at this point in it's life.

It's your choice, though. Your money, not mine. :)

...XBOX doesn't have UT2k4.

It has Unreal Championship and Unreal 2: The Awakening (neither of them are worth getting).

But PC has Halo, GTA: III and Vice City, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic and Unreal Tournament 2004. The only exclusive (as in consoles and PC) on XBox on that list is Halo 2, which may end up getting ported to the PC, anyways.

It's your opinion, though, and it seems I'm late now anyways.

BTW: as Tempest said, XBox doesn't have UT2K4. It has Unreal Championship and Unreal II (and will have Unreal Championship 2 soon). Unfortauntely Unreal II was a horrible port to the XBox... much better on PC.

Have fun with your new XBox, though :) You should like it if you've got a bad PC (as in not good enough to run new games).

I agree, Unreal Championship and Unreal II were horrible ports, as well as how both Halo and Star Wars: KOTOR were both horrible ports on the PC (IMO).
