Since people were going off-topic about it inthe Post Your Picture thread, I decided to make a thread about wrestling. What do you think about it?

Wrestling is the most ridiculous form of entertainment, right next to American Idol, "reality" shows and the news.

It's so fake. I can't watch anything that's as fake as wrestling. And whenever I'm flipping through channels and it's on, all they're doing is talking! And insulting each other! There's never any wrestling!

It's like one big fake soap opera with half-naked sweaty guys yelling at each other!

Yeah that broadcasted stuff blows. I used to like it, but not so much anymore. But the backyard stuff and independant companies are real and very brutal. Ive seen matches in places that turned into slaughters. Those are the good kinds.

"wrestling is fake" is the best arguement you can put across for why wrestling sucks? that's not even an arguement, that's a fact, you think wrestling fans don't know this when they sit down to watch the thing. Wrestling is sports entertainment, it's not solely based on wrestling, it's just as much entertainment as it is sport. Thats why I and most likely other wrestling fans watch it. To say that wrestling is just fat men groping each other is ignorant, only because it doesnt interest you doesnt mean others do not appreciate it.

This is what i said in that thread. It's annoying when people say "yeah, but wrestling's fake!". I know it's fake. So does every kid above 8 years old. That is why i watch it. I'ts the entertainment side that has kept me watching for years and years.

It's really hard to make people understand it when they don't watch it, just like anything that anyone takes an interest in. Wrestling fans understand, and that is all i need to back me up.

I agree completely with you Casey, WWE has sucked big time, for a while now.

Most people dont watch wrestling for the entertainment. They watch so they can see people get the shit beaten out of them.

Okay, point taken, but storylines give a reason for the #### getting beaten out of them, it makes it that more special IMO. ;)

I don't watch WWE. <_<

Anyways. My arguement:

The Indepedent scene of wrestling is something that no other sport has. Matches last up to one hour in some federations, and through the whole thing the fans are on their feet cheering.

Take NWATNA's "X-Divison" for example. It takes AMAZING skill to do what they do. I can't really describe anything because word's can't, actually. They do 450 Degree turns in mid-air. I don't know, it's just entertaining to me.

If you don't watch wrestling then it's stupid to you. What you saw Will was I'm guessing WWE. They suck. Plain & Simple. The politics involved backstage is disgusting.

Wrestling is entertaing to me. I'm not going to try and change your opinion because you can't without getting the person to sit down and watch a show that's not WWE. WWE gives wrestling a bad reputation.

Anyways, if you said something like 'Wrestling Sucks' in Mexico & Japan, you'd probably be publically criticized & beaten. Especially in Mexico.

I'll leave you with this quote:

In Mexico: it's a tradition
In Japan: it's a religion
In America: ...it's a joke

I'm not trying to change your opinion. I respect it. I'm faced with this argument everytime someone finds out I'm a wrestling fan. It's nothing new to me.

I used to watch WWF (long time ago.) I knew it was FAKE - but I still liked it. I guess it got old - same old crap every week - that's when I noticed how boring and corny it was. I don't watch it anymore. For me, I guess it was just a faze.

If I watch it now I can alwayz point out how fake it is. (Like when they hit eachother with chairs.)

I can understand why some people like it - but if they think it's real - well - that's another story.

Not their fault they lost the World Wrestling Federation name.

the World Wildlife Fund filed a lawsuit against the WWF. They claimed they had an agreement with Vince McMahon's father, Vince McMahon Sr. that said WWF wouldn't use the WWF initals or anything overseas.

Needless to say when Vince McMahon Jr. took over they used the WWF initials overseas and the World Wildlife Fund filed a lawsuit and gained complete & total rights to the initals to WWF.

Yeah.

Said Germany sucks and flipped off the fans.

He was working as a 'heel' = badguy, and the fans started to massively boo him and he got pissed.

see, he's a face = goodguy, and the rule at house shows is when you get boo'd while you're a face, you work as a heel. Vice versa if you're a heel and you get cheered.

So he got fined for flipping out.

lmao a thread on it now.

Ok well this is my opinion:
I see no point in watching WWE, WCW, or any other fake wrestling. I find it stupid and pointless, I have no intention on watching men pretend to hit eachother, yell at eachother, and drink beer. I can do all of that myself.

I also see no point in watching real wrestling/boxing. I'm not gonna watch people really beat the hell out of other people either.

NOTE: This is my opinion. If you like wrestling, good for you, I don't. Leave it at that.

yea, i agree he may have helped smackdown, but technically he wasnt that great. Although this is probably down to management telling him he cant do half of the moves he wants in the ring. It seems to be the case most of the time in the wwe nowadays.

It's a shame too, as wwe has some good talent, but they just dont put it to good use. TNA always seems to be a good option to take if a your contract is running out, Hopefully RVD will go to TNA after his contract ends. Then he will be able to actually do some good, unrepetitive matches.

Ha ha music. What kind of music does he (Jeff) play? Rock? Does he sing? (w00t)

I think he should come back to wrestling. Fits him better.

Fact by practice. You can't fake pain. Especially the pain caused by a 200+ pound man falling from a 20 foot ladder on your body while you lay "dormant" on a table that breaks practically on impact.

Who cares if Wrestling in WWE is fake, I'll still watch it for the comedy and sometimes exciting storylines. Of course I also watch the show for the WWE Divas, heh.

You know what's funny, for all those years, they claimed that wrestling was as real as it gets. Now they admit it's fake and only for entertainment.

, I marked out big when Chris Benoit won at wrestlemania, but now he has won the title and there are still ppl that say he isnt a credible champion, I do like what they are doing with Randy orton and Shelton Benjamin ( I see this fued been a reincarnation of the fued the Rock and hhh had for the I.C title). Wwe needs serous compotition , but I doubt that tna and AJ styles can do that.

You know what's funny, how some people follow it so well. They actually believe that skill and challenging opponents are key. The only thing that they do, is predecide who wins, and make it even, so they jerk you around in circles, thinking people are winning and losing, when everybody's near even. Sometimes, when they're big, they 'retire'. Then their t-shirt sales come back, so they come back, and the cycle starts all over.

I was amused with wrestling two years ago.. I was literally jumping for joy whenever Steve Austin won his fights.. Now that I have a chance to see it again.. I don't get why I was got so excited with the episodes. Isn't it weird? We use violence as entertainment. I guess.. it is a milder counterpart of the gladiatorial games during the ancient Rome.

We all know that tv wrestling is fake. There are just times that is true.

Who was the guy that died 4 or 5 years back? Bret Hart's brother I think, right?

I used to watch wrestling...and I used to love it. But I changed my mind. So for all the people who love wrestling, I did underdstand, I felt the sameway. It just changed.

I used to watch wrestling too.

It was Owen Hart that died. That's screwed up.. he used to be one of my favorites.

It's all just storyline for christ sakes. I sometimes think the non-wrestling fans take the #### more seriously then the fans do.

When they retire, they don't really retire. Only person that's stayed retired is Bret Hart, and that's because he got knocked the #### out back in 2000 with a kick to the head. Motorcycle crashes don't help either. ;)

They actually believe that skill and challenging opponents are key.

So doing midair flips and the like is just second nature and not difficult AT ALL? What the #### are you smoking? Yes, the matches are predetermined, but that doesn't mean that skill isn't key. If you put on #### matches, the result won't matter. People will switch to another channel if it's not entertaining. Skill is key. Granted there are some non-talented wrestlers, but for the most part wrestlers are amazingly gifted.

This is the #### I'm talking about. The Media has ruined a sport like Wrestling. It's now debated wether or not Wrestling is even a sport. Oh, okay, so big men in pads hitting each other and running away with a ball is a sport, but wrestling isn't? RIGHT.

Wrestling is fake, no doubt about it. But if you watch some of the #### they do to each other, you can tell some of it actually connects, and hurts. I wonder why wrestlers constantly get concussions? Oh, right, because wrestling is entirely fake.

It's Sports Entertainment. It DOES take skill to make it in Wrestling.

It amazes me how things have changed in the past 40 or so years for Wrestling. When Wrestling first started, it WAS a sport. Wrestling even made a World Record IIRC by having 2 wrestlers go at for 4 HOURS. No breaks, just straight-up 1920s type wrestling for 4 HOURS.

If Wrestling isn't a sport, then nothing is.

Oh, I'm not mad either. I just have alot of time on my hands today.

WWE/WCW is as fake as the breasts on all the divas. But they're still hot (especially Trish and Torrie). :chemist:. Except Sable. :x
