...I have officially lost all respect for Staind. If you listen to their last single, So Far Away, and then their current single (Zoe Jane) back-to-back, they sound exactly the same in both song construction and the way they play it. Heck, my brother and I even sing the lyrics to So Far Away when ZJ is playing on the radio just for the heck of it.

Anyway, I'm interested to hear your opinion on this. Do you think Staind has lost their touch?

Theyve definitely gone soft. I used to love them with their first two albums, and when I heard the new one I was glad I burned it instead of buying it. I mean there are a few songs I like on 14 Shades of Grey, but thats borderline. They really need to go harder on their next album, or Ill lose all respect for them.

i absolutely HATED 14 shades of grey, the two previous albums were amazing though. 14 Shades of Grey just really got on my nerves and every song basically sounded the same to me. Aaron Lewis's voice got really annoying to me on that CD.

I rather like 14 Shades Of Grey.

I mean, if I wanted to hear some angry dude yelling about his ####ed up life, I'd listen to Korn or something. Atleast Aaron Lewis can sing about it without getting overly pissy about it.

Or something.

It's over for staind. And yes I think Aaron Lewis voice got annoying. I think only Scott Weiland and Endi Viemier should have that voice.

Prove it.

No seriously. I haven't seen declining record sales, nor any of their fans lashing out at them.

I mean if you're going to bash Staind for going soft, you mine as well bash Linkin Park for not changing, but no one does hardly.

Ah well. I liked 14 Shades Of Grey.

Me too. Because that's the only song I've heard from them. :P

I still like Staind. Just because they went "soft" doesn't mean I would give up on them. They could bounce back and go heavy again with their next cd.

Dunno about their fan base, but they have fallen from the 4x platinum of BTC to the 400,000 copies of 14SOG, which is a terrible CD. Changing is not bad, as proven in Slipknot's latest CD. Becoming super-soft and having uninteresting singles is bad.

I have no problem with 14 shades of grey, i'm not going to stop liking them just because they took a different approach for this album. 14 shades of grey was great in my opinion. The songs were well written and the tracks were well produced, if "they've gone soft" is your only criticism against staind then i suggest you take a look around. Other bands experiment all the time with new albums, people change and their music changes in result. Arron Lewis has become a father and if he wants to sing about his daughter then i can respect that. Okay, so maybe there are fewer "hard" songs on 14 Shades but since when did Staind and any other band hold a duty to make every album and track "hard". I can appreciate any bands change of direction in music and can respect the fact people change.

I agree completely. I personally like 14 Shades and think it's a nice change, but if their softer approach didn't work, then I'm sure Staind will see this and their next album will be more like Dysfunction and BTC.

Aaron ripped his voice from Alice In Chains. No matter what album it is, his voice always starts to bore me. They want to make harder music, but the record company hasn't been letting them do it. I still think that they need to focus on the lyrics because that's what made Staind where they are.
