I need help!

I keep getting attacked with what is referred to as a "PWNAGE BOT" on AIM. Basically it floods my whole AIM account with requests for direct connecting, voice chat, file transfer and chat requests. I've tried making everything buddy list only and rejecting things from people on my buddy list, but for some amazing reason it still manages to patch through and attack the #### out of me which makes me think I'll need further protection from this thing.

If ANYONE knows how to prevent these attacks I'd greately appreciate it as I thought I had the beaten it for over a few weeks and suddenly the attacks are starting up again. I'm on a screenname nobody knows and so far this seems to be working but, man...it must be some idiot I banned who has a personal grudge against me or something.

You know, I had a similar problem once and I really couldn't figure out how to stop it. So I just gave up on AIM. I wish I could be of more help but honestly, I think Will is right, you can't stop it. :mellow:

I've never had that, have you tried blocking it? You can go into your prefs and make it so that only people you put on your buddy list can talk to you. Maybe that'll work..?

Well I dont want to make it that way, but if it doesn't stop I might have to try that. I'll just have to have LPAers who want to talk to me who arent on my list, PM me through LPA.

Have you tried uninstalling AIM or downloading spyware/firewall to try and catch it in it's process? If you have WinXP you can use the Task Manager to find the process and end it, then search it on your computer and delete it.


You should still get MSN though. ;)
