Oceans Ate Alaska - Hikari (Progressive Metalcore) Make Them Suffer - World's Apart (Symphonic Deathcore, Progressive)
Television - Marquee Moon Genre: Post-Punk Linkin Park - Living Things I watched you fall apart and chased you to the end I'm left with emptiness that words cannot defend You'll never know what I became because of you Ten thousand promises, ten thousand ways to lose
Fred V & Grafix - Cinematic Party Music (Liquid Drum & Bass) Savas & Sido - Royal Bunker (German Hip-Hop/German Rap) I'm usually not the biggest fan of Sido's solo outputs (even though I like him personally, since he's a funny, really cool bloke), but this album is a masterpiece! Kool Savas is my favourite German rapper ever (and imo the German GOAT) so whatever he releases abolutely slays!
Evanescence - Fallen Genre: Gothic/Alternative Metal/Rock Evanescence - The Open Door Genre: Gothic/Alternative Metal/Rock
Thanks, Tony. It's about time someone acknowledges my only utmost superior taste in music such as Linkin Park and Coldplay. Just a shame about my soft spot for that old pretentious hipster junk like Talking Heads, Joy Division, and Television tho
LOL I do like Talking Heads and Joy Division. They inspired me a lot in my teenage years to learn music. Never heard Television's music really though.
Although Linkin Park were the band that really got me into music, Evanescence were the band I first listened to on the radio when My Immortal and Bring Me To Life were playing on the radio all day, a time when almost everything on the radio was good. Chelse Wolfe - Hiss Spun Genre: Doom Metal; Gothic Rock; Neofolk Some pretty dark shit, neither her darkest album nor her best one. Against The Current - In Our Bones Genre: Pop-rock; pop-punk; synthpop; alternative rock Almost flawless from start to finish. Nightwish: Endless Forms Most Beautiful Genre: Symphonic Metal; Power Metal One of their best albums, if not the best, with their most versatile singer to date.
I've been trying to make an effort to listen to older critically acclaimed albums. I've listened to acts like Joy Division and Talking Heads before, but I only recently heard that Television album when I saw it in a recommended "Post-Punk" list. There'll always be an absurd amount of great music out there that you'll completely overlook and never have the time for all of them, so I'm trying to cross off as many "best-of" albums in specific genres I like. It's a great feeling discovering classic albums for the first time and understanding why they're so beloved.
Zola Jesus - Okovi Genre: Gothic Pop/ Dark Wave One of the best albums I've heard this year. Quite dark, but not as much as Chelsea Wolfe's albums. Eluveitie - Evocation II - Pantheon Genre: Folk Metal One of the worst albums of the year for sure. It sounds all the same and I understand none of it, it's in some celtic language or so. It' more relating to folk and all that if it's in that language, but would have been better in English, even if it was less natural.
Broods - Evergreen Genre: Electropop/ Dream pop Dance Gavin Dance - Instant Gratification Genre: Post-hardcore
Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Genre: Indie-folk Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights Genre: Post-punk revival
