Am I missing something or did they really remove the best vocal part from the stems (Chester's last chorus)?
Yep. There's a TON of shit missing from these stems, and what's there doesn't even line up with the original recording in many cases. Check out how jumbled-up the vocal track gets about 2/3rds of the way through the song, and how the instrumental tracks are vastly different lengths. Very poorly-done job on this, stems are basically useless for remixing purposes if they don't even line up with each other...
As long as the appropriate elements are there and isolated (and, yes, in this case, some of them are missing) and presented in a format that can be used, the tracks don't have to be the same length or line up with each other. That's extra convenience, yes, but it's far from essential. Now, if they're released mainly for listening purposes, then, that is a problem, but this is a rmx comp
Fuck cookies. I'll throw pennies at the person that can use these stems to remove the instrumental from the original track and get a proper acapella with Chester's lead vocals in the final chorus.
This feels like: 1. They didn't grab all the samples from the same project and/or 2. a really Early edit/mix of the song EDIT: And Dear GOD... the hoops to go through. It just makes me suspicious. (tbh it reeks of Data-mining) Steve Aoki Why couldn't you go to Indaba Music Like your last collaboration with Linkin Park
Sometimes, artists choose not to provide drums & breaks so that participants will make their own ... but this seems more like the sleepless intern who exported the multitracks didn't do a perfect job Could really use some dry vox as well ... 'cause I think that the heavy sidechaining and whatnot kind of boxes us into a corner
Throwing in rock elements is certainly possible, but, without some serious vox editing, you'd be kind of limited to a four-to-the-floor rhythm, IMO, to match the ducking But, then, maybe I'm just not imaginative enough
EDIT: its done and up and running for the contest. So please take a listen and maybe vote https://wavo.me/steveaoki/darker-th..._blood_first_defense_remix__13986969407610000
