    Nope. Of course, not.

I'm truly surprised, remembering the BID and The Catalyst reaction.

Haha I know, right? Everyone is so quick to call Linkin Park Bubblegum Pop just because the snippets that we've heard of "Heavy" so far seem to be more electronically driven. Electronic does not equal Bubblegum Pop. I mean, "Midnight" by Coldplay is all electronic and I definitely wouldn't call that a pop song. When I think of Bubblegum Pop, I think of One Direction, Little Mix, Becky G, old school Justin Bieber, Owl City, etc.

I also see a lot of comments that say "Plz LP, no electronic on the new album, only guitarzz". By their logic, guitars in music = rock music. Well there are guitars in "Side to Side" by Ariana Grande, "Paris" by The Chainsmokers, "Cake by the Ocean" by DNCE...the list goes on and on. None of those songs are rock songs.

There've been things that LP have done (and are doing now) that were largely unexpected from them. If LP are doing music with electro-pop production and with the likes of Kiiara and Blackbear, Biebs' more recent output isn't a bad reference point for what the new album might sound like, but I think there'll be less of a dance music influence on the new LP album versus "Purpose".

I truthfully am surprised at how people always want LP to do the same thing. They have two Nu-Metal albums, two rock, one experimental, one electronic, and a couple remix albums. They literally provide you with about every genre you could want. I'm grateful they experiment. Because they experiment, my favorite band provides me with plenty of material so that I never get bored of them. From what I have heard I am excited for their new single. Why? Because my favorite band is releasing new music for the first time in years. Be grateful they still make music anymore period. Not many bands produce quality music for 15+ years.

Amen! Exactly what I was thinking too. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, our favorite band loves to experiment and that is what I love about them.

Jumping to conclusions far too quickly. How do you know how the whole album sounds?

And even if the album did turn out to be electro pop being close minded towards any genre of music is a bad thing. Go in without preconceptions and you might find you actually like the songs, who knows.

I really don't know what people expect from this band. I laugh at the people that say "I want it to sound like this! :insert example:". Why not just listen to that other band that already sounds like that? Why would you want one band to even sound like something else?

I just wish people could understand that even if Heavy (or most of the album) ends up being labeled as 'Pop', that it still doesn't exactly describe how the album will sound. Pop is an extremely broad term, moreso than 'rock' is. There are a lot of different sub-genres to Pop, and I could probably find you two artists that are called 'Pop' and put them side by side, and you'd be surprised they're being put under the same broad genre.

Hell, there's an argument to made that parts of Hybrid Theory are pop, and yet that album has been referred to as 'Nu-Metal' since its release. The point is, yes Heavy seems to be leaning towards a very pop oriented sound (by snippets) but that in no way means LP have become bubblegum pop or sound like Bieber now. That's being incredibly assumptive.
