Sorry Gene mate but we're living in the 21st century now. It's not like back when you guys were starting out when you could get a music tape for a tuppence or some shit like that. We're living in an age of technology and we're only gonna find more ways to get stuff like music and movies for free...not that many people are gonna put Kiss as a priority to download.
Gene Simmons being a money-grubbing bastard? I'm in shock! In all seriousness, though, Gene Simmons is, without a doubt, one of the biggest dick-heads on the planet. Even if he was pro-downloading, I would still hate him. Fuck Gene Simmons.
Gene Simmons: Great bass player, singer, songwriter, businessman... as well as the most money-hungry person in the history of the music business. He admits to it himself. His record label is even called $immons Records. And for the record, as a lifelong KISS fan, I know exactly why they haven't put out a new album in 10 years: They have no desire to. When the reunion of the original KISS lineup in makeup happened in 1996, KISS as a creative force died, and became a nostalgia act. It carried them well for about 4 years, but once Ace and Peter left the band (again), they've just been running around doing shows here and there, playing to mediocre-sized crowds, and sounding like old farts who have hung around the music business for too long when they try to rock out on stage. Gene and Paul Stanley are both pushing 60, and their band is playing casinos and IndyCar races. Their fanbase has dwindled considerably, and Gene being the guy at the reigns of the KISS Korporation, he doesn't want to spend the money on a new album if he doesn't think it'll at least go Gold. They should've just hung it up in 2000 after their supposed "Farewell" tour had ended.
As long as the artist makes good music, I will keep downloading it before I buy it to make sure it is, in fact, good, before I buy it. Otherwise, they can shut up.
The main thing is, is that there are a lot of studies that show there is no direct link between downloading and the decrease in record sales, so artists that are making these claims are not looking at factual information and are going by what they "think" makes sense.
I had a hard time reading that and not laughing at him. I mean...he just sounds bitter and washed up.
You mean the Chav Queen and the band full of the most arrogant assholes ever? That doesn't surprise me one damn bit.
He's right. You guys are weird. We shouldn't be sued? We're not stealing? The record industry doesn't lose any money when we download hundreds of thousands of albums a day instead of buying them? Okay.
Kiss Kaskets cost like 5 grand regardless. Dime was a huge fan, he probably bought it before he died. And Todd: not to one-up you but: You torrent everything we've got You keep downloading and your disk gets hot You drive us wild, we'll go sue crazy We'll twist the facts till they go in a spin The lawsuits just begun, we'll get you in You drive us wild, we'll go sue crazy You keep on shoutin', you keep on shoutin' I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day We keep on saying you'll be fined in a while Smoking crack and opening shops just ain't my style You drive us wild, we'll go sue crazy Our lawyers demand everything you've got Baby, baby thats quite a lot And you drive us wild, we'll go sue crazy You keep on shoutin', you keep on shoutin' I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day I wanna obey the law all night, and not get sued every day
There is a difference between saying we should be punished and saying "Every little college kid, every freshly-scrubbed little kid's face should have been sued off the face of the earth." Plus, I have heard that filesharing doesn't necessarily cause loss in sales.
