I like "The Philosophical Significance of Shooting My Sister In The Face: An Essay By James Secord" as a song title.
That's going to be a great album. I'm sort of surprised they didn't have very many clever song titles, though.
Who knows, some of them could be along the same lines as Boiled Frogs - not very clever sounding until you've heard the lyrics, or the concept behind the song.
That makes sense, actually. The one on Vagrant.com might've been a temp cover. Although I like the plain one more. It's simple. It's like an oxymoron for the title itself. Calm cover, titled 'Crisis'. The last two covers have been based on songs from the album. This one obviously depicts "Rough Hands". In other news, THIS ALBUM IS CRAZY GOOD!
Yes, I like to thank you for getting me into this. I saw it and went..."Hmm, maybe I should check this out". It's good. And who is that singing on "Keep It On Wax"...the guy sounds different than the other singers in the band.
There's more singing, but there's by no means a lack of screaming. The best thing is that Dallas' singing has improved so much over the last year, and so has George's screaming. This album should be very easy to get into.
Every song has screaming in it, but it's balanced out by singing***. It's not structured in every song, but it has both there.
I believe it's Gared O'Donnell from Planes Mistaken For Stars. Edit: Actually, I think that's Gared on "You Burn First", and it's Wade on "Keep It On Wax".
Hey all, thanks for the replies, I actually prefer Dallas' singing over George's screaming (not one of my fav screamers) but yeah, I'm on track 4, it isn't wowing me as much as watch out! HIYFM, No Transitory and Sharks and Danger - flawless AOF songs in my opinion, but it's immediately more accessible than their S/T, bottom line, I'm liking it but hope I learn to love it. Also gutted "Bitches and Hos" didn't make it as a song title!
The band improves with each album. George's screaming is more coherent, Dallas' vocals have improved even further, and the extra usage of Wade on vocals is a great move and adds a totally new dimension to their sound. "Rough Hands" is an epic song. When I was listening to the song for the first time, I was thinking about how great Dallas' singing sounded on top of the piano, and I was skeptical of how they'd use George in the song. But the way he screams in that subdued way surprisingly fits the mood of the song. A perfect album closer. "You Burn First" is one hell of a dark-sounding song. I love how it's a departure from anything else they've written. It's so different to hear another vocalist fronting the band for a full song. I'm a huge fan of "We Are The Sound". The intro riffs are just kickass. It's such an upbeat, energetic song. It sounds like one of those songs that would be used in a high-speed chase scene from a movie. I sure hope they play it live if they come back to Newfoundland. The pit would be crazy. In fact, any of these songs would sound great live. Great effort from the guys.
Usualy new members don't live up to the hype. Jordan did a good job replacing Jesse. No, Jordon did a excellent job replace Jesse.
