Mike was in the LP Chat just now and gave some minor details regarding ATS. He confirmed that ATS will be 45-50 minutes in length, reiterating "rapping on new album = yes", as well as going on to say that ATS contains "some of the best beats I've / We've ever made, too". Check out the excerpts below.

KROQ have just announced a competition that would allow the winner to play against Linkin Park in the Xbox360 Version of Medal of Honor: Tier1, as well as win a copy of their new album, A Thousand Suns, due out September 14th.

"We just got a call from the boys in Linkin Park and they offered us this super sick deal.

They asked us if we wanted to give away a few copies of their new CD A Thousand Suns and the opportunity to play Medal Of Honor: Tier 1, against the band, months before the game hits stores. (LP’s music is featured in the game.) and the opportunity to play.

Of course we’d be idiots not to accept.

Apparently the band must think they’re pretty good gamers cause they’re calling out you KROQ listeners.

Check it… A Thousand Suns hits stores September 14th while Medal Of Hon0r: Tier 1 doesn’t hit till October 12th! Entering to win this is a total no-brainer for any LP fan."

You have to be 18 or older to enter and reside in California. Contest Ends August 4th.

Mike just took to his blog to announce that the band has found their winner... and they will be announced this weekend.

"We found our winner.

In the past few weeks, the band, our management, MySpace, and our friends sifted through the thousands of submissions. We searched the top 100, and then we went deeper. Using randomly-generated recommendations on Indaba, and searching by date, we found 20 finalists.

A few days ago, my bandmates and I listened to the top 20. We voted, and we’ve got a winner.

The winner……will be announced be announced this weekend."

Just a few more days of torture for the My Space: Featuring You Contest entrants, and the winner will be announced!

The ESPN X Games have begun playing The Catalyst during the show, and you can check out the first one below. It seems like the extended instrumental section we heard from the MoH Trailer. Keep in mind, this is being played during commentary and isn't very clear. Still, if you want to hear the clip, download it below:

This is slightly unusual for the LPA but for once we are posting to confirm a WRONG / FAKE story making the rounds. People keep asking me about a radio station tweet confirming The Catalyst premier by themixshow.com, but it was WRONG.

It's been confirmed as FAKE by the LPA a few hours ago. If you scroll to the side of their website, and click on 7 - 28 Rockin' With The Game Killers under Recently Aired Mixes, and skip to 19:20, they already played it last night. However it was a remix using the stems from the Featuring You Contest. Sorry to get your hopes up folks.

Thank AkirraKrylon of the LPA for that one.

Radio DJ Zane Lowe has given brief details on the upcoming LP single 'The Catalyst' on his official Twitter and confirmed the song will be played in full at 7:30pm GMT on Monday on BBC Radio 1:

"Listening to new Linkin Park 'The Catalyst' right now. Very good. And not what I expected at all. Sound wise, very little guitar replaced by an up tempo, almost jungle rhythm, urgent synth line and a really strong vocal. First play of new Linkin Park will be on Monday night. Hottest Record at 7:30pm #RADIO1"

Tune in online to BBC Radio 1 here on Monday to listen to The Catalyst!

The Japanese version of A Thousand Suns has now been confirmed to carry a bonus track of New Divide (Live). Japanese album releases are common to feature bonus tracks, and this addition to the other 15 tracks is no surprise.

According to German website 1Live, Chester Bennington has informed them that the next tour will be an experience we will never forget and that Linkin Park may actually play the whole of A Thousand Suns album, from first to last song. He says the band are yet undecided, but it could be a possibility.

"Also for those fans, who already have been to our concerts - and that's a lot in Germany – there will be something completely new this time. It’s supposed to be an event they’ll never forget. The album is really good and I hope, that people want to hear it live. Maybe we are playing the whole album then, from the first to the last song. But we haven’t definitely decided that, yet."

UPDATE: I have personally been in contact with Marci who has informed me that she will be playing the song on Monday in FULL at 12:40, not today. It seems the earlier broadcasters reported it wrong. Instead she played the same clip we heard from KROQ. Sorry for the confusion.

The LPA can exclusively reveal that X96 Radio have confirmed they will be playing The Catalyst today at 12:40 MDT. Resident DJ Marci will be débuting the track live on air. You can access the web player through their website here.
